They need to pay really close attention to what’s happening with young voters - especially male voters. What messages will resonate with this group? How do you authentically engage with them?
Firstly I'm reasonably confident that it relates to economic opportunities or lack thereof.

I also agree there is a real issue with the amount of grifters selling the idea of what masculinity is, which makes these guys upset that they don't achieve it.
Also, while I agree with you that the immigration issue is being blown way out of proportion, I think the horse has bolted on this. Many people just will not hear common sense on this right now and don’t want to be educated on the nuance around why immigration is needed. Fighting it might be futile for this election cycle.
I agree and it's easy sell.

With inflation easing, I think the blame the immigrants for the woes of the country isn't as effective
Controversial opinion but if they want to get ahead of the curve and win the election, Labor might need to bite the bullet and throw a bone to the rising anti-immigration sentiment. Ride the wave, don’t fight it, and announce a once off, big-ish reduction in immigration numbers for a year.

Grab the headlines/hashtags, take the wind out of the Coalition’s sails, win the election, then get back to our usual, sensible, long term immigration strategy in the hope that by the time the next election cycle comes around people aren’t quite so deranged about this.

Caveat that I don’t think this is sensible or the right thing to do by any means, this is purely thinking about what it might take to win the next election.
I'm voting independent I actually want a hung parliament (I believe quite a few people who moderate agree) so my comments are taken with a grain of salt.

But I don't think people will believe it, they need to nail cost of living whilst the coalition dog whistles about flags and woke.

Still can't believe in 2025 we have posters defending the Nazi Salute

Don't get me wrong, I'm not surprised, but far out, the mask is definitely off isn't it.
And these are the people we have to worry about here in our elections.

I've always said, the biggest issue with Trump was giving these pathetic losers a louder voice.

Let's hope Australia is a tad more educated than the US
I don’t hold out much hope judging by the representation of these mindless ****s on this board. If there’s this many in here…

So Democracy is only unfortunate when it doesn't suit Henny Penny Jenny views on the candidates/Party?

Hopefully Trump can have a legacy of ending this senseless war. Positive he is making it one of his priorities. Couldn't give a shit he is upsetting some Russians as the softly approach is ineffective.

Have we forgotten that Musk has openly supported far right wing fascist parties in the UK, France, Italy, Hungary and Germany during recent elections?

What amazes me isn’t that these posters are deflecting or defending his Nazi salute, it’s that they aren’t embracing and celebrating it. This is the natural progression of everything they’ve supported. They should be excited.

You’d have to be staggeringly naive or dishonest not to realise that Musk has always held these views. With Trump elected he’s just more comfortable and confident being out in the open with it now rather than spinelessly hiding in the shadows of plausible deniability.

Trump's about face on Ukraine has been breath taking

It seems there are some sane Republicans left and retired Lt Gen Kellog seems able to hold the fort for Ukraine.

We just need to hope he lasts.

Absolutely, I'm more talking about the response .

Only a week ago the LNP and it's shills were banging on about antisemitism

Musk does his Nazi salute, and bang the topic is gone

It just shows that the people peddling the antisemitism last week, didn't really care about Jewish people at all.

It's appalling.

Not all republicans are as unintelligent as Trump, and I might add the same goes for policy. Not all republican policies are as heinous as the left screech about.

Thats right, some still exist, but they aren't driving policy.

Also I don't think you need to be concerned that people think you are a lefty because you don't like Trump, most of us are a bit smarter than that.

I would suggest the majority of normal posters on these forums are centre/centre right.

My feel is that the people that care about this are going to vote conservative regardless. I'm not sure it moved the needle much when Democrats did something similar.

Biden and the Democratic leadership changed its approach to immigration, focusing heavily on enforcement, restrictions, and punishments — a strategy at times indistinguishable from the Trump administration. Their positions have moved significantly to the right in part due to Republican attacks and changing public views on border security.
