Anyone got the tapatalk app for iPad? Awesome if you use bigfooty and other forums on your iPad... Much better than accessing through the browser...

I almost prefer using tapatalk rather than a browser on a pc/Mac...

Got tapatalk after reading your post.
Good to have all social feeds in the one spot

Only works up to IOS 4.3.3 which is no good for me as I'm on 4.3.5. Just tried to downgrade the IOS from 4.3.5 to 4.3.3 but no go, so looks like I'll have to wait until the 4.3.5 JB becomes available.
That's going tobe an interesting one, Apple have now hired the guy behind the jailbreakme.com website

iOS 5 has a lot of JB features.

The only reason you would want to JB iOS 5 is for free apps.

There is a JB tethered for 4.3.5 but it means you have to connect your phone to the computer every time you reboot -which is headfcuk.

Im stuck on 4.3.5 I tried to downgrade but its complicated and apparently I didnt save ssh blobs (or what ever that is called).

I accidentally upgraded my iphone and lost all my JB features which I am peeved off. I miss lockscreen and bite sms plus free apps.

:(

I couldn't give a flying proverbial about free apps. The main thing I would want is quick access to toggle Airplane Mode, WiFi and Bluetooth. Sadly, I don't thing these things will be is iOS 5.

I jail broke my phone for this exact reason for a month or so. All I did was install sbsettings and lock info.

I know lockinfo is covered by ios5, but if sbsettings isn't then I will definitely be going android late this year/early next year...

It's definitely a concern. If Apple don't allow more customisation/personalisation, then they are only contributing to the rise of Android.

And it doesn't help when Apple bans apps because they steal a developer's idea and add it to their OS or apps. eg. Arguably the best calendar app for iOS, Week Calendar has been modified numerous times at the request of Apple. Week Calendar HD has been completed pulled from the App Store and Apple refuse to communicate with the developer.

Yep I'm all over the weekcal issue. I have it but i only use the week view which is so far unaffected. I was commenting on it the second I saw the ios5 announcement. They've pretty much ripped features from a few apps. I didn't think they'd aggressively attack the all makers though, but I did think it was interesting as they were effectively copying their ideas and releasing them, thus reducing the profit of these app makers. If apple weren't such a big company they would have been primed for legal action IMO, but none of these small app makers have the balls to take on apple, and understandably so.

I use 2do for all work related functions, brilliant.

Yes lockinfo/sbsettings/2do - free app/bitesms were the reasons why I JB in the first place.

MxTube is handy to when your in a free wifi area and you can top a few things to watch later too.

For the ignorant like me, what's the big benefit in jail breaking your iPad?
I've pretty much got all the apps, music and movies I want on here and have only had to pay for a few apps.
Not really sure what the big deal is:confused:

Functionality and customisation I'd say. I don't know too much about jailbroken iPads.

Colleague showed me a great free iPad app called Zite. It's a news aggregator that creates an 'intelligent magazine' with articles and pictures (and possibly ads now) organised on the fly. Say you want to look up news on Windows 8, it will create a multi-page magazine with articles just on Windows 8. It kind of looked like the Age app.

You can rate each article and the app learns your preferences and the aggregator improves each time.

Zite went 1.0 in March, is currently at version 1.1.2, and was recently acquired by CNN for $20 million - http://on.wsj.com/pYJOgg

The potential for an app like this is huge. Zite will be an independent subsidiary of CNN. Other platforms (eg. Android) are likely in the future.

Looks like they are ex-GST, shipped from Hong Kong. Warranty is worldwide.

Shipping from Kogan HK limited so no GST is required.

You would pay a little bit for postage ~$35.

Just started a course whereby I'll have the ebook. Also there are a few helpful things that are designed for iPhones etc, but I was looking at an iPad as it'll be frustrating using my phone. Whats it like spending hours reading off an iPad?

You can adjust the brightness settings if need be. A colleague of mine reads in the tram every day and he has no issues. I'd suggest go to an Apple store and load up an iBook or something and read it for 10 minutes to get a feel.

But there is no doubt that e-ink is better for prolonged reading, but of course you don't have the extra functionality that a tablet can provide.
