iPhone 4 vs Samsung galazy s2?

the thing about the nexus prime is that it will be nearly the same size as the SGS2
the extra screen space comes from the removal of all buttons. the buttons will be on the screen - ie fully software.

but i agree, the note is too big. i wouldnt go bigger than the SGS2 size.
but some people like that extra screen real estate. maybe it is stupid for a phone, but it could be good for those who want to use it as a media player with occasional phone usage

Was looking at a mate's S2 so I thought I'd compare weight and dimensions with the iPhone 4s.

The Galaxy S2 has a 22% larger screen, yet is 17% lighter.

I think Apple have some work to do in both areas.

I don't find screen size to be an issue on my iPhone. It's a phone, and I want it to still fit in my pocket. If I want a bigger screen, I have an iPad for that.

Samsung has 13 Android phones with screens at least 3.5" yet weigh under 120g, all 15-25% lighter than the iPhone.

Either the iPhone's screen isn't big enough, or if it is, then the iPhone is simply too heavy.

I have recently purchased a S2 and the screen size is the perfect size.
I seriously wouldn't go any larger. The phone to me is the "Goldilocks" size....not to big, not to small....just right :thumbsu:

I guess however Samsung need to flex their muscle now over Apple given what Apple have done to them in the last year..!!

Was playing around with one today, and the nice big of extra real estate was good. I thought maybe a tad oversized,, but, something Apple needs to address

I think if you read enough from the rumour sites, you would have been confident that only an iPhone 4s was coming and that it would have very similar if not the exact same design as the iPhone 4. That said, there have been other rumours of another iPhone, presumably for next year, with a tapered back, similar to the iPhone 3G/S and with a larger screen.

So my feeling is that that will come to fruition and next year's iPhone will have a larger than 3.5" screen. I don't think Apple will go larger than 4.0" and I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually more like 3.8".

Seriously, I wouldn't go any bigger for a phone. I reckon that size is optimum..

It is just small enough to fit into a belt clip holder (necessary evil for work) but big enough to adequately view web sites without the constant scrolling needed for smaller models..

comparison, and something in the middle

Code:
[B] Height Width Depth Screen Weight[/B]

[B]Galaxy s2[/B] 125.3 66.1 8.49 4.3 116g
[B]iPhone 4s[/B] 115.2 58.6 9.30 3.5 140g

Heavily considering purchasing a SGII unlocked on ebay for around $560. Figure it would be best to go unlocked as I will be travelling to and from overseas a couple of times over the next 12 months.

Not really considering an iPhone because for some reason I have this demented notion in my mind that if I go with the SGII I will stand out from the crowd because majority own an iPhone.

Mate bought an SG2 for about that price. I guess one selling feature of the iPhone 4S is the world phone capability, the combining of GSM and CDMA. Although probably not a big issue as you'd probably just get a GSM SIM.

Not completely related. But I think in that is why Apple haven't gone with LTE yet. As it stands, there is not chip that combines LTE, GSM, and CDMA onto a single chip (and won't me until around mid next year). Perhaps a silly Apple design theme of not liking to put 2 radio chips in the 1 phone, I think in part that may be a power use thing is both chips are consuming power.

Just waiting for my current contract to expire then will buy an S2 outright and go prepaid.
With all the hoopla about about Jobs dying I hope the iZealots read and look closely at themselves and what cult they have joined.

Bluetooth is perfect example of you should buy anything other than an iProduct.

Tp be fair, I think a lot of Android people are just as bad, any story about an iOS device, and Android users seems to come out in force.. Both systems have their pros and cons, depending what you like, both are great devices.

Yeah what a person uses as their product of choice will often define them from other peoples' perspectives.

I read the October issue of Time today and the issue was about Jobs and his influence.

The thing that stood out was the 'influence' part. No doubt he changed the world. He turned vision into reality. His influence though was his complete control of his costumers. A good example was the iPod. A device that appealed more to the design lemmings than than the function realists.

The 1st iPhone was a masterpiece. Just like an old valve radio that you had one Station which needed a licence and you had to register lemon trees. He re-invented good product with complete control and people flocked to it..

The 'I's seem to want to be owned.

Yeah its more pronounced with Apple because they have the entire media as fanbois somehow but both sets of fanbois are equally stupid. Apparently Australians don't need to know about Android 4.0 being announced today with facial recognition for phone unlock.

Yep, no doubt that adds to it. It gets a little tiresome when either side pretty much just baits and trolls the other.

Anyway, here was a picture of the new nexus vs the iPhone 4 side by side

The glass back of the iPhone 4/4s is a terrible design. While antenna-gate got all the press, I thought not enough was said about the fragile glass back.

Samsung definitely wins with their Gorilla Glass and contoured edge.

I think the 2012 iPhone will be a far better design than the 4s.
