I don't understand how anyone can like soccer. "Oh my God he almost scored!". Easily the worst sport on the planet

:thumbsu:

Good to see we're not all poor deluded souls who stay up till 2 in the morning to watch some mononymous South American almost score a goal for a team from some city in England that they've never been to.

Lawn bowls > the 'beautiful game'

Have been playing field hockey since I could walk, still do. Quite clearly my number one sport.

Other than that, I keep a heavy invested interest in both AFL and Football. AFL probably slightly ahead, but pretty close these days. Alternating seasons makes it nice and easy to follow :)

On par with football and cricket.

I really enjoy playing cricket with mates, wheras I have never been good at playing AFL. Football is generally a good game to play with friends as well.

In terms of watching AFL would have to come first, just an amazing fast-flowing game. Football is great too but not as much as AFL.

Anyone who thinks soccer is enjoyable to watch is a ****ing moron, yourself included.

Ok, ****face, answer me this.

If footy is such a great sport, why does it need a rule change committee?

Also, explain what you think is so shit about 'soccer'...

At a guess, probably the fact that it consists of 90 minutes of mindlessly boring passing back and forth.
Although this is occasionally interrupted by the odd shot at goal, of which only about two or three will actually end in a scoreboard result.
Yay for nil-all draws too.

At least the scores actually mean something, and as such, generate a meaningful response from the crowd. The best you get from a footy game is 'YEAH!!!' or 'Team name! (3 claps)'.

Besides, it'd be worse to go in the other direction, and have a shitload of scores but still reward people for missing. Probably says something about the attention span of the fans :thumbsu:

As well as that, the 0-0 argument is ******ed. You can get some great 0-0 games, but for some reason ignorant footy fans seem to think that a game without scoring is just without a doubt crap. In 80% of footy games, the result is in no dispute by 3/4 time. At least there is often excitement at the end of a game of football, be it a draw or a 1 goal margin.

No problem ****face.

Like someone said above me it doesn't need a rules committee. If it wasn't for them then I think AFL would be an even better sport, but what's any of that got to do with how bad soccer is? The beautiful game sucks, go have another cry.

Not this f*cking argument again. Didn't anybody learn from the Craig Foster thread?

Have been playing field hockey since I could walk, still do. Quite clearly my number one sport.

Completely forgot about this. Been playing since I was a teenager and playing always takes priority over any footy match. Even Collingwood/Carlton. Love it. What club do you play for?

I can't really watch it though. Don't know why.

I love both forms of Football but...

AFL has been somewhat bastardised in the last few years which is a great shame, bring back the mid-late 90's form of the game, undisputed greatest sport in the world. But the changes to the game have helped Association Football close the gap on AFL as my number one sport quite substantially.

The disappointment at the lack of EPL this weekend is just about stronger than the relief that AFL has returned for the year. Watershed moment that.
