I wouldn't go that far. He has still been more than servicable this year. Fringe AA contention.
Are you serious? No where near it.

Are you serious? Forget the fact that Hawthorn are playing like crap. Mitchell has been pretty good considering they are shit. Are you serious? No where near it.

Short answer: Yes. Comparisons to Steven Bradbury are now starting to be an insult to Bradbury rather than Hawthorn.
You speak out of your arseh*le.Hawthorn 'fluked' winning the Premiership last year.
Beating the Cats on Grand Final day was a fluke.
You speak out of your arseh*le.
We had superior tactics and it showed as we romped away.
Good day, sir.

So to was beating the Bulldogs in the finals - they should have bought a tatts ticket after that one.
Thrashing the Saints in the Prelim was just 'a bit of luck'.
Finishing 2nd on the ladder at the end of the home and away season was 'good fotune'.
And Buddy's 100 goals - 'pure arse'

Are they being exposed as just a side that were fortunate on the day? That they are not the "Still upcoming" young side that we thought they would be for a while but rather a flash in the pan? People are thinking less and less of them every week.
I think the Hawks had a dream draw in 2008, they really didn't play many games of note until about the half way mark of the season, didn't have many injuries and that allowed the main group of players to build up confidence, in the end they were a fairly solid side with a high amount of confidence and quite a few sides struggled with their rolling zone.
Geelong's grand final performance was one of the worst games the Cats have played in years and the Hawks made the most of it.
Their draw is much tougher this year and they are having injury issues and the kids in the 30-40 range of the squad are not as well drilled and a zone crumbles when you start to expose the weak links in it. Now they are playing with no confidence and the confidence was a huge element of the game and there isn't the same kind of hunger this year.

And how is that different from most premiers ?
No injuries, confidence, top 2 finish, leading edge tactics, played better than finals opponents, Luck
How ?
Geelong are a choking club - and theres another 3 like them in the top4 this year.
Any one of them could 'fluke' the 2009 flag
Their dismal performances in 2009 do not diminish their 2008. They deserved to win the 2008 premiership and were the best side, what happens this year can't change what they did last year

Does anyone truly believe the doggies will win a flag before hawthorn ?
Fact is theres a few other teams which won't either. Many supported by posters in this thread

Last year was maybe a bit of a shock, but they deserved the flag full stop. One of my sons is sitting around screaming blue murder about this year .I said shut the F up and think. Are they being exposed as just a side that were fortunate on the day? Hawthorn WON the game. Geelong couldn't go near the ball without huge pressure, so stop the bullshit. They got jitters, and always are worried about Hawthorn no matter what. But we will prevail over the years, and you who hate, don't know much about footy, kick a great team when its down is shit footy supporting in general by other teams supporters, its petty, and nasty, remember the worm will turm smarties.Well, that has to be stating the bleeding obvious.
It certainly looks like in 2008, Geelong lost the game rather than the Hawks winning the game.
But at the end of the day, the record books still show 2008 Premiers Hawthorn.
