gotta agree, the team seem to lack discipline, and fall asleep at key moments in games, factors that have to come back to the coach. His team selection too is frustrating, how is branko jelic not getting a game, i can understand Dadi is a shed favourite, but cmon?!

As for a replacement, maybe look overseas, a european coach with a strong stance on team discipline and with the ability to harness the skills of sterjovski, jelic, and sikora and use them properly, another area mitchell has fallen flat in.
 
One word describes why we play like this. Culture. Other teams against us have the mentality they can nab that late goal against us, that our defence is prone to making some stupid error, and more often than not it happens.

We'll be hard pressed to find a manager that can change that immediately. Promoting people within the club that was faltering was never the right way to go about it. Mitchell should've just been a caretaker option.

Theres no point going out getting all these good players without a manager that knows something to be in charge. As far as who we should get, i have no idea.

Who is out there that is any better than Mitchell?

Farina? He took a very talented Roar side and underachieved.

Kosmina? He's probably the only option out there unless they look abroad, which they would need longer than a week or 2 to do so.

Phil Brown will be out of a job soon and he's a big fan of a tan, perhaps Cottesloe Beach could be his new home?:p
 
Farina would be a sideways move at best, kossie would be a backwards step. Most of the australian coaches have been out of a professional environment for so long they dont really know what it takes.

Two preliminary finals in a row is underachieving? Could think of bigger underachivers in the coaching ranks.

Get Pierre Littbarski back in the saddle in Australia if the $ is available. God knows how Mitchell got that young Sydney United side to the Grand Final in 1999.

They had arguably the best young side in the league and probably over the last 2 seasons, the 2nd best side overall, he underachieved by never getting them to a Grand Final.

I'd like the idea of Littbarski. He's managing FC Vaduz in switzerlands division 2.

Colin Todd is out here and has expressed interest. Had a nice word about the ref from yesterdays game. Would be good.

Maybe because Jelic was sick? Dadi took his place and Boi was called up from the kiddies.

Yes I agree Mitchell is a spud and we deserve better. But now is not the time to sack a guy who has us in the finals currently after years battling with the Kiwis for the spoon, and he is the guy that has organised a great squad for once. But come the start of the season he has shown his lack of tactical nous and needs to sort out our defensive slips.

At the end of the season he needs to go if nothing has changed and we need a European coach as there is currently no one in Australia that I would want who is avaliable.

But currently he is the man and he has half a season to get us winning again.

Was actually thinking about this on the way home from the match yesterday. Mitchell is a very good recruiter but the results are not consistent with the talent that is there. So you would say tactically he doesn't cut it.

I was discussing this problem with the old man and we came up with the only logical solution.

As much as I hate Kosmina (all time coach of my **** 11) I think he would sort out the issues with concentration laspes and may even lead to a good style of football. Probably the best out of the realistic chances.

Last weekend wasnt the first time Jelic has been dropped in favour of Dadi, and the league is way to condensed to praise him on getting the team in the position they are, if they dropped points this weekend they risk dropping to 8th. 5 wins and 6 loses doesnt deserve that.

Fair point, he has organised a tasty squad, but maybe that shows its best to have him in a football manager role, rather then a gaffer...
 
This thread is two seasons too late. Seriously one of the worst coaches in the league. Likes to play one style of football and when the other team doesn't let them play that way he complains. Doesn't try and fix it, just complains that they aren't letting them play. It's kind of like the kid who keeps trying to hit sixes in backyard cricket but gets out all the time and then says he wasn't ready or he can't get out first ball.

Get a coach that will at least take responsibility for their own teams short comings.

Dadi didn't start last weekend, Jelic did and he set up our first goal. Yesterday he was sick. Do you actually watch the games?:rolleyes:

There have been a few saying this (Myself included), but I somehow doubt DMFH would want a demotion from the head coaches role.

He has great contacts overseas and since taking over has picked up good recruits. Pellegrino and Dadi last season were wonderful, he gave Rukavytsya a chance to shine, while this year he convinced three Socceroos to come to Perth when other clubs were chasing their signatures.

He has done some good things, and he has also pushed us up the ladder. But when you sign good players, you need to get good results and with the squad he has assembled, we should be a top three team and we seem to be off the pace at the moment.
 
For whoever it was who said Van Egmond as a possible coach a massive HELL NO! Hes the reason Glory hate newcastle in the first place....He a twat just like Farina and Kosmina are....Seems as though Mitchell is a tway too with the tactics etc aswell....What is with Aussie coaches and being twats these days eh :p

Sorry but how is GVE a twat? By collecting the mess that was left by Nick Theodorawhatsisface at Newcastle and moulding it in to a championship winning side. By having the balance the mini-hitler that ran the club and his team when the players were getting shafted with their pay? The only time he has shown me to be out of line was after a match at the MES last season when him and Trinidad (let's face it Trindad was that kind of guy to provoke you). He's one of the only Australia coaches that seems to think outside the box.

well I was just throwing a random name about.. But what harm would there be now getting a caretaker coach...
We are slipping back into that plodding obilvion again. **** me the team was slow and even walking during that match against the Victory... Where's the speed, wheres the sense of urgency... We Perth fans derserve better than that shit.

I grew up in Rockingham and while the amount of 10-pound poms was around 1 n 4 back in the day it was never as bad as what Joondalup is now. Open up Ben Sherman wholesale store up there and you'd be a millionaire. Mockenys as far as the eye can see.
 
I heard whispers that Jan Wouters (former assitant at PSV, Rangers and currently at Utrecht) was in the country during the socceroos match against holland, and was in talks with the Roar. He's keen to have a crack at the top job with an overseas team, and the dutch connection with the FFA has drawn him here. Maybe?
