Is there a better club than Carlton at selecting number 1 draft picks?

My you are a clever lad
Where did I say Carlton picked Judd ?
Hawthorn picked Hodge over Judd. That was a mistake HAWTHORN made.

Sorry, but Hodge has been better than Judd in 4 of the past 6 years. So no.

Besides, Carlton Judd wasn't in the 2001 draft, that was West Coast Judd, and Carlton Judd is nowhere near his level.

lol @ u.

No he hasn't Podge.

Now where have I mentioned Carlton in the 2001 draft.
B&G claims Hodge was a great number 1 pick. I say Judd was a better option so the Hawks made a blunder on thier first choice. That therefore discounts Hawthorn having a better record at picking number 1's than the Blues. Simple.

Also over thier entire careers Judd has been far better.
I never get why you idiots bring up the Judd at WCE vs Judd at Carlton when discussing the merits of Hodge over Judd in the 2001 draft.
It is totally irrelevant and all that matters is who has been better over thier whole careers.

Simple answer: Judd.

Carlton should be better than any other club, they simply have had more pracice than most;)

here is my no.1 draft order for the last from 2000-2006 in terms of whos the best. verdicts still out on 2007-2010.

1. Goddard 2002
2. Riewoldt 2000
3. Hodge 2001
4. Cooney 2003
5. Deledio 2004
6. Murphy 2005
7. Gibbs 2006

Kruiser could be as good as Cox or as good as Frasier jury's still out. Watts 2008 is to recent to judge.
I think Carlton's recruting is ok but their development is crap. It doesn't matter who they recruit they wont develop them well. Murphy still could get better then Deledio but I think the rest is set in stone as far as im concerned. With the recruits Carlton have had over the last 10 years they should have been top 4 last year. Instead they ended with 11 wins and 12 losses (48% win/loss record just not good enough).

Except clubs who cleverly trade them in. :thumbsu:

Agree, GC is definitely on the winner with Fraser.

This thread is on par with Nicky Dal claiming he has the biggest penor in the world.:eek::eek:

Goddard is in essence a Carlton recruit. In any sense, the fact that St Kilda also used a number 1 pick on Riewoldt cancels out any place they have in being better than Carlton at choosing number 1 draftees.

That's not being awarded one is it. :thumbsu:

Let the failures like Melbourne, Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond and St Kilda argue over their spoon picks.

You're bitter because Essendon will be tasting the bottom of the ladder soon, except with GC and GWS around you won't get the consolation of a number 1 draft pick. Don't blame others for your shit timing in bottoming out:thumbsu:

Just imagine what would happen if they could do shit with players once they were drafted...

Even if they are the best on paper draft picks, stagnating and comfortably mediocre talent isn't particularly thread worthy.

Kreuzer gets overrated cos he performed from an early age but in reality he has shown less than Patrick Ryder as a player.

Kreuzer is the best young ruckman in the league, this fact is not up for debate.

Carlton should be better than any other club, they simply have had more pracice than most;)

Brisbane have had equal amount of number 1 picks as Carlton.

All this great drafting and trading and yet your team is still a joke.

So why is that then?

If we're a joke then the joke is on you, enjoy getting within 1 flag of us, it's the closest you'll ever be.

Individual Reputation > Team Success

Idiot. This is about Carlton's drafting prowess and how it eclipses everyone elses.

Will be even more accurate after Murphy chases the GWS dollars.

Care to have a wager on this?

Hardly worthy of a thread when they have done absolutely nothing. It's all still potential... not something Carlton has excelled at realising from their talent

I wouldn't know. As a successful club for the last 20 years we struggle to attain number one draft picks, we prefer to go for premierships.

Dear Carlton,

LOL Sydney, I think you guys would 'pass' if ever faced with a number 1 pick again. Darren Gaspar, spud who moved to Richmond after 2 years and won their b&f:eek: Sydney - league's worst drafters.
