Is there a less exciting team right now than North Melbourne?

ultimately the AFL can beat its chest all it wants and so can the no-fan-garoos. the issue will be when the following happens

tv audiences bottom out
FTA starts demanding they not be given certain teams

because such instances would affect the value and viability of the TV rights deal, only then will genuine action be taken.

it is in the interests of all other clubs that no one club get into this bad a state. thus, comment from all corners is totally acceptable on poorly-performed teams.

If you want to want to talk about poorly-performed teams - North Melbourne has made the finals more times in the last five years than Hawthorn has.

Getting back on topic : surely the least exciting team in the comp would be the one that just fell over the line against Richmond thanks to some dubious umpiring, and was captained by a girly hair-puller.

41000 to a game with a total of 1 win between them

16000 to a game with a team in finals contention.

I think North are deadly dull and everybody agrees. When your excitement machine is Leigh Harding then I am not surprised.

the post was about tv figures, not on field

north melbourne has proven beyond all doubt that they cannot build a fanbase in spite of what happens on field

i hope you enjoyed posting on bigfooty, better luck with your next attempt

I admire the fact that a list with such little quality, besides the captain Harvey and a couple of youngsters, can keep grinding out respectable results but the facts are this team has such little X-Factor it isn't funny so it's little wonder they can't pull a crowd. (and if anybody suggests Daniel Wells I will seriously vomit... maybe for a couple of games in like 2004, but one of the biggest wasted talents in the AFL)

I also admire the fact that their small group of diehard supporters keep turning up week after week to support them, as they should, but far out... what could anybody possibly get even remotely excited about watching North Melbourne? They're like an ultra mediocre version of St Kilda...

You just described your own team. The Bombers are as boring as bat shit.

Probably still bitter over Laidley owning their beloved Sheedy too. :thumbsu:

You don't want to talk about on-field stuff. No surprises there.

I read your blog post, by the way. Now there's some insightful analysis....

I'm sure Sheedy is devasted by this. 4 Premierships, 7 Grand Finals, 19 out of 26 years in the finals...

How many flags/Grand Final appearences did Laidley snare again in his 7 years at North? Oh yeah... none... only a few 15 goal finals losses... keep trying... Brent Harvey might lead you to flag number 5 sometime soon in front of about 17 of your supporters... :thumbsu:

You forgot to add 2 one point loses in Preliminary finals because your mob was too shit scared to play North in the Granny.

You were definitely the better side in 1996 and would of defeated us pretty convincingly had that Grand Final eventuated, the fact we would of gone into that game injury depleted is irrelevant.

1999 - Carlton pulled one out of the box and yeah, it hurt considering we convincingly beat you twice during the H&A season... probably hurt as much as North's infamous second half capitulation to Adelaide in the 1998 Grand Final...

You got revenge for that in 1999. We got revenge in 2000 for our 1999 exit, defeating North with a record finals score and margin in the process. :)

we were dominant over a five year period and got two flags in the late 90s

you were dominant for three years 99-01 and got one premiership

none of this really matters though

Kudos to Scott Thompson for providing us with what will most likely go down as Norf's biggest highlight of 2010.

Congratulations also to Brad Scott who is doing everything he can to bring scragging back into the game. This is sure to help footy shake the 'soft' tag it has acquired in recent years.

Keep up the good work boys! :thumbsu:

Just letting y'all know I've tipped Brisbane to get up this week. ;)

Being a typical Aussie bloke I love to get behind an underdog, but Norf is starting to look very shaky after their insipid effort against Fremantle and the rumors that are starting to spread from Norf's coaching box that Brad Scott isn't up to AFL standard. (he was little more than a scragger in his playing days)

I just hope Norf can put up a fight for their handful of supporters who actually make the effort to rock up to the game. Sheesh, it's got to be pretty embarassing catching public transport to the game wearing one of those horrid blue & white scarves, you'd think their team could at least put in a 4 quarter effort to repay their fans' sacrificing their self-respect by barracking for such a dog of a club in the first place.

But instead, odds are they'll probably roll over as they did against Dockers.. it's a shame really.

Hard to argue with anything mentioned here :thumbsu:
