Sorry to intrude, but I know for a fact that the Collingwood guys did not question wicks before the game. The teams are kept completely seperate. I also know that three Collingwood players, including Grundy, wore the same boots with metal studs on. That is why the issue has died quickly. The use of metal studs from Nike and adidas is very common across all the teams and are illegal. On that basis the AFL has treated it as a failure of the AFL and all clubs.

So how do you know this?

You work for the AFL?

Assumption most likely off the back some amateur sleuthing - Grundy is wearing a Nike boot model that is supplied with metal stops. Was it even considered that the metal stops have been swapped out for moulded ones? Probably not. Going by the photo below, can’t see the glint of metal stops like Wicks so obviously had.

Devastated for the young man, his career was on its way and he was showing what a fine player he is going to grow into. The whole metal studs thing is just a bloody shambles and examples need to be made here. I am still astonished a player or multiple players have been playing with metal studs in, a farce!

It was reported that he was questioned on his metal studs during the game, not before. Any player can wear these boots as the screw-ins are interchangeable and be swapped out for plastic screw-ins.

You seem to know a lot and I’m sorry you intruded too. Regardless of who else was wearing them, the issue was not properly dealt with, there should be some consequence as it was a breach of the rules causing serious harm to Quaynor. Sorry isn’t good enough and if the roles were reversed there would be.

I totally believe that Collingwood didnt question Wicks before the game. If they truly had a genuine issue they should have gone straight to the umpire for a ruling.

I also tend to believe that the AFL has quashed this quickly because the use of these studs is more wiidespread than they'd like to admit. And with a lot on their plate at the moment, the last thing they would be considering managing the game is whether players are wearing legal boots.

Thought he been Good but would like him to get more Touches
With Crispy running off the half back line that takes at least half the run and gun opportunities away- probably more as Crispy is a known quantity to the other players who know where he will run to. As IQ gets more game time the other players will get used to him and the possessions will start to come up.

If he can can quickly hit form in his return, think it will show that he’s quite mentally strong as well. An unfortunate and gruesome injury for any young man but if we see the same dare and form in him immediately upon return then we’ll know he’s got quite a bit of character.

They must really rate him with him coming Straight Back In
With the likes of IQ, Noble, Crisp and Maynard off half back we could potentially attack with the ball rather than going backwards. Revolutionary!

That is Totally against Bucks Gameplan
