In today's The West - ISC has threatened to cut off supply to a local retailer because they are selling Fremantle guernseys below the RRP of $110.

No two ways about it - THIS IS ILLEGAL.

It is also illegal for a supplier to cut off, or threaten to cut off, supply to a reseller (wholesale or retail) because they have been discounting goods or advertising discounts below prices set by the supplier.

Well... I used to work for Jim Kidds in Joondalup... Let me tell you they have been selling Dockers and Eagles gear remarkably cheaper for YEARS...

Reebok (or whomever was the clothing brand) and the two Clubs NEVER had an issue before....

Who does ISC think they are? They cant do this bloody GIMPS and trust me Jim wont stand by and let them dictate his selling prices!
Thats just NOT how Jim Kidd roles! :thumbsu:

DockerChamp29, Jim Kidd has the same old everyday low low prices.

Its funny how the manufacturer and the club are not impressedwith Jim Kidd's. Are they not making money from the new stuff??

Don't Miele set the prices for all their products?

Fairly sure Apple do(did) the same as well.

They can't by law.

What they can do is retail them as well as wholesale them which is what Apple do. They then set the wholesale price just below the price they're retailing them in their own store which doesn't give the other retailers a chance to undercut them unless they want to lose money.

wow thats f****d
Surely Jim Kidd buys in bulk an pays upfront.
They are given a rrp but if they choose to sell cheaper it has no effect to ISC.

Whether they sell them for $10 or $1000 it doesnt effect ISC.

Unless ofcourse Jim Kidd have a better bulk buy deal than other shops so if more a getting sold from there it means other shops are selling less so wont be buying as much.
But thats their fault.

Just like bands their old stuff is better than their new stuff

Geez, I can't answer for everyone but I'm happy with 2-1. I thought our season would open worse than this.

But that has nothing to do with my response to im_a_lazy_sod. I just thought stats based on 15 years vs 3 games was a bit thin.

The end.

One of the beer makers (Pure Blonde??) refused to sell beer to Woolworths recently because they were planning to sell it too cheaply. It made big news at the time but I don't recall reading that it breached any laws?

Not the same as what Jim Kidd is doing.

From the very page I linked to in the original post:

Suppliers may withhold supplies of goods to a company that engages in ‘loss leader selling’. That is, purchasing goods with the intention of selling the goods below their cost so that:

the company can promote their business
attract customers who are likely to purchase other goods or services.

http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2011/03/23/3171121.htm

According to Fairfax, cases with a wholesale price of $33, which normally retail at $38, were going to be sold at $28.
