hi all,

well, my tried and true online bookie in sportsbet has shit itself in the worst way at the moment and is not accepting deposits.

is sportsbet the only place having problems? i actually thought this would be making the news by now, because for it to crap itself on Melbourne Cup day? seems suss... friggen russians...

anyway, other than sportsbet, what are the recommendations to sign up for on short notice, make a quick deposit, and get punting? (can't do centrebet, cos i hate them. can't do sportingbet, cos my account is locked)

Sportsbet own IAS.

Every booker maker has issues. The best way to go it is to have variety of accounts going. This is good for taking advantage of products and prices and different markets.

Rumour has it that Sports Alive is going broke, so if you have an account with them I'd keep a minimal bank.

Betfair for me all the way. Havent touched my TAB account in probably 9 months (surprised it's still active, thought if you didnt place a bet in 6 mths they shut it - maybe the $0.09 in there is stopping that). I use the IAS website for my guide to market movers/flucs.

Use my Centrebet account for racing multi's and Betfair Aus Multi's for my other sports multi's - however sightly concern if the rumour is true re Sports Alive being in trouble as thats who run the Betfair Aus Multis I have a few healthy ones going around the EPL and NBA.

Anyway for single punts on the races cant go past Betfair, not uncommon to get well above tote odds - and I thank a regular poster on the harness threads for getting me into it.

Scored a $100 free bet from sportsbet for the internet probs Cup day. The probs actually didn't really bother me just had to try a few times.

$100??? I received a minor $10 free bet as per the below email. And their server problems did bother me as I had to put on my cup trifecta through one of their competitors, so I missed out on Sportsbets 5% exotics bonus.

I'd be interested to know what amount others received as their compensation free bet.

Yeh I think the size of your free bet was calculated by how much you have wagered over a certain ammount of time or something with sportsbet.

Would rate IAS number 1 if they would have treble and quaddie betting already.....in saying that I still use it most, just think if they added that it'd be great.

Well if benhawk is wagering ten times more than me, he's got a very serious gambling habit. :D

Yep, heard nothing but good things about IAS but I've got accounts with TAB, Sportingbet, Sportsbet, Flemingtonsportsbet, Canbet (UK) & SportsAlive. Might look at closing those last three & open accounts with IAS & Betfair.

Yeh, next time I talk to someone from IAS on the phone I might ask if they are looking to get quaddies in soon, it's so annoying that they don't have it :( other than that the site is great, and I get my withdrawl less than 24hrs later, can't say that for anywhere else.

Don't worry about closing accounts, just open new one's at the books you mentioned. It never hurts to have lots of accounts as you can then shop around for the best price. Sportspunter.com is a great site for comparing odds of the different bookies.
