Went and wathched the Suns out of curiosity today. Gaj was brilliant.....just looked a class above everybody else today, including the bulldogs. With support in the midfield improving at the end of the year he will still be a force to be reckoned with....no point putting him in the forward line though, the Suns can't get it down there without Ablett in the middle!

Just more proof that individual midfielders are the most over-rated species about. Other than Judd, there is not one game changer amongst them.

This game was a line in the sand game. They said it ain't gonna happen again. This is the absolute best they can do. Brown was runnning around sniping at anyone he could find. Ablett was at his possession hungry best. The Cold Toast were pumped for this. And they were still thrashed by 70 by a basically disinterested Doggie team.

Wait until they cop 6 or 7 weeks of this. The kids will be totally demoralized. So will the mercenaries. And no established team is going to want to let them off the hook for multiple reasons.

I hope the Woods break our record. And then we break that. Make for good copy. :D

On 3AW, they were rating performances, and said if Ablett was 10, Karmichael Hunt was a 3-4. Must have been back to Gazza's best. Didn't take long. Still a Brownlow chance. I hope a few performances like that will shut up the crap that has been spewed out regarding his inevitable lack of ability to star without the help he got from our protectors. I have not subscribed to that theory that Ablett became the genius HE IS because our players made him. Ablett is genetically a footballing genius and got himself into MVP contention these last 4 years. Anyway, no need to justify what we all know about Ablett.

I gotta say, you just don't get it. Totally over-rated player, and his individual stats when his team gets thrashed proves it.
What I get is that you are a turn coat like the worst of them. What were you saying about Ablett 2, 3, 4 years ago?? Lucky you only joined BF in 2009. Less evidence .

I barrack for the team. I'm not a suck up to individual players.

I supported Ablett when he was one if us. But not any more. I supported him and said nothing negative, even when I thought he was a bit over-rated. I have said before, he has great individual talent. But he uses a lot of it to be a star and rack up possessions.

You are a hero worshipper. I don't mean that in a bad way. You can split opinions on this to types: people who support the team, and thats it, and people who probably get more of a kick out of wearing a Geelong jumper with a particular number on it.

Nothing wrong with that. But we will never agree on stuff like this. :thumbsu:

Being the best player in a team of no-bodies is an empty achievement after starring in a team of champions.

Many of us agree that he was, and still is, an exceptionally talented footballer, but morally, he's bankrupt.

I didn't see the game, but heard the post match report on AW, and they and Eade said he was brilliant. You can't have it both ways, last week he was criticised for being below average in a thrashing, and it was suggested he would never shine without the protection and support from Geelong's mids. Now, he shines but it is irrelevant because he didn't change the game, like prelim 2010, you mutter. Well what about the many games where Ablett single handedly got us up? Forgotten? Yes, I'd rather forget so that we can get on with supporting Geelong post Ablett, but let's stop the garbage about being overrated. ALL the AFL coaches can't be wrong.

We all barrack for the team. I am one of the geriatrics here on BF, have never idolised one player, and get criticism for my support of Blake, Mackie, Hawkins and Ablett. All "heroes"? And yes they are heroes because they are Geelong Premiership players who deserve some respect.

I'd love it if we won the flag this year, and played the Gold Coast in our first game at Skilled next year. Let the Suns run out for their warm-up and unfurl the flag in front of Gaz. :D

That would be sweet

I must admit I'm happy to see Gaz playing well. I thought it was rubbish when people were saying he won't play well without 'protection'. Sure it helps, but they only protected him a bit cos he was so damn brilliant with the footy!

The thing that Ablett will regret about the GC is losing. He hates it. Remember 2004-06, Gaz cracking the jimmy grits out on the ground. Sure he was younger but I expect we will see it again.

I Agree with this, everything I've heard in relation to G. Ablett has something to do with him hating to lose. That's why he got so upset to lose the Brownlow, it was never him putting personal accolades above the team, he just hates losing anything.

Last year he spat the dummy on the ground when he was asked to go up forward. That was very unsettling for the team.

if he hated to lose he wouldn't have dogged it for half of 2010

You're right of course but I think generally speaking most Cat supporters have moved on.

I frankly think we are better than last year now...a new enthusiastic and competent coach, and no toxic atmosphere between best player and coach. Must be a bonus for team fabric and on observation, the group look really tight.

Might surprise a few this year.
