It's best if Eddie and co keep quiet re the brownlow

Why would Eddie need to stay quiet if you don't believe or he doesn't believe Swan was robbed?

I'm not trying to start an argument, I just feel what I am reading on BigFooty that is not on Bay 13 is over the top. This one was just the topic I chose to reply in. :thumbsu:

Because as we have seen in previous years, Eddie has managed to mouth off over things that many supporters and players see as unimportant.

We're all a lot more interested in what happens on Saturday, as I'm sure everyone involved with the club is. Doesn't mean that on radio this week Eddie won't say something stupid in regards to the brownlow as a pie player was the favourite and didn't win. :thumbsu:

I don't care who won the Brownlow Medal, and he came third anyway. It's nice to see a player from your own team win one for his personal recognition, but it doesn't matter if they don't, particularly considering Dane Swan said that he didn't care if he didn't poll a vote and would rather win the Norm Smith Medal. The most pleasing thing is that not only did Swan finish third with 24 votes, but Scott Pendlebury finished fourth with 21 votes, and that is terrific!
Spot on. The depth of your list is fantastic, and it should keep you up the top end of the ladder for the next few years. Better to have a team of guns than a solitary gun at the helm.

Can another collingwood supporter please explain how wrong on so many levels this is,

You can be awarded a Brownlow medal but no-one says you have to accept it. Apart from Vlad, Twigley and Judd himself, how many of the people in that room (let alone Australia) would have privately been shaking their heads in disbelief. Like I said, he's weak and he's a mercenary. He would barely scrape in as 'Best' and no way could you call him 'Fairest'.

I agree with the OP because Eddie wears his heart on his sleeve...the Brownlow medal is a farce...Judd missed the first three games for eye gouging then elbowed Pavlich without penalty..he polls 3 votes in a game we won by 50 points..yet it is not his fault..the farce is Swannies 8 second best on the ground and only two BOGS...still he is not the first short priced favourite to lose...players like Hodge should poll better...Ablett should have two medals at least...
there will be zero motivation from tonight...the boys polled well...we aren't a one player team like carlscum ( a fact backed up by votes :) )...the boys will be happy tonight is out of the way...
As for Carlscum supporters...let them have a crack...their season is over...trolling our board is all they have left...we've only got to breathe on the Saints board and they flip out..and for christ sake don't get sucked into lowering yourself to their ridiculous meaningless crap.
Bring on the Grand Final...don't be greedy...I bet Swan will take a premiership medallion over a Brownlow everyday and won't be embarrassed like Judd was..

GO PIES

Settle down. So if daisy won he should have stayed seated and not stood up and collected the charlie because he didn't deserve it? you have a GF this week which any player would trade for that opportunity. In no way does this make Judd weak. Swan was unlucky but that's the way the brownlow is.

Who here thought Kanye West was a bit of dick when he jumped on stage and said Beyonce should have won the award instead of Taylor Swift.

Everyone? good, now let's all move on to the Grand Final.

No surprises

1. Voted by umpires ... they have no idea

2. Swan will always suffer if he is being rotated off the ground as much as he is, when it is the umpires voting (they notice the busy onballers who play the most game time).

3. The best team always suffers by having players take votes off each other - Swan/Pendlebury/Didak had 56 votes between them! - although, on that basis Ablett was probably even more unlucky.

4. He will win it soon, because the umpires are now aware of the hype around him

5. If he wins a flag, he won't give a toss about the Brownlow!

... on the other hand, maybe it's just another umpires conspiracy, and they have already mapped out the pies destiny before Saturday as well ...;)

Personally I am not all that disappointed (and certainly not surprised) that Swan didn't win it. How often does the Brownlow medallist have a poor game in the GF? Swan can now avoid all the media commitments and pats on the back and just focus on the big game. We need all our players to focus on the prize ahead, not individual awards.

Secondly, it wasn't really a surprise that Judd won. The average punter didn't get on him so his odds were massive, yet practically all the people who followed every game and did their own count (check out the Brownlow thread on the stats board) had him finishing between 1st and 3rd. As a result, basically all of those guys cleaned up at the TAB. People look at coaches awards or media awards but fail to recognize that the Brownlow 3,2,1 voting system biases the results towards flashy players that get BOGs, rather than consistent players that are always there or thereabouts.

And as for the OP, Eddie is obviously sensible enough to not be a poor sport and create a distraction during GF week.

So what we are saying is Eddie shouldn't do something he hasn't done yet and has given no indication he will do it anyway.

Shadows === Jumping

The Brownlow has always been a farce and the umpires proverbially vote like thirteen year old girls.

It doesn't matter. We should STFU and win a ****ing flag.

Swan just does a job week in week out. He doesnt ponce around with a big head like a certain two other players.:thumbsu:

Eddie will only be talking about it this morning for his radio show , then it becomes irrrelevant.
Swan , Ablett and co. didn't win an award voted on by how many different umpires , others saw the year differently . Some at the club might have a little shake of the head and a chat about it this morning, but do you think they'll really give a **** about it in the scheme of things.

Is he the first on-AA to win a brownlow

He won becuase he plays with a bunch of hacks and therefore stands out

You couldn't possibly believe that?!? Next we'll be saying MM should send the runner out and get Pendlebury off the field. "I think I caught the umpire taking a fancy to him in the last quarter".

That was a bit more tongue in cheek.

Maybe I should have used the appropriate emoticon ;)

The biggest joke of the Brownlow was that terrible opening video and how they said that Hodge, Ablett and Swan were the only ones who could really have a crack. Then they paraded Swanny and Ablett on stage in front of everyone. They did not want to be up there at all, was cringeworthy.

I don't think Swan cares too much about the Brownlow, and he shouldn't, he has a GF to worry about. Eddie was terrible though, couldn't believe how pissed off he seemed when his team is playing off in a Grand Final. If I had a choice I'd rather Swan win the Brownlow and Carlton playing off in the GF this year but oh well.

The Brownlow is an award from the umpires, how can that be taken seriously. Swan won the MVP this year and I rekon that award means more becuase the players actually vote. I honostly couldnt care less if Swan didnt win the Brownlow the only think I am disapointed about last night was I had money on Hayes to finish top3. Dw about the Brownlow pie fans. We are going to win our 15th flag on Saturday. I hope.

I agree. Collingwood plays as a united team more than any other in the league because they're determined to win this years premiership. All season they have shown unwavering focus on the game plan and attack on the footy and player. St.Kilda on the other hand seem to need the disappointment of last season to motivate them.

Hlt shit. That is spot on KS. Well said.

As for the brownlow, I would have liked for Swanny to have won but that is the way it goes. I have no problems with Judds' votes because I didn't see many games that he played. He did play very well that day against us when he got the 3, but Swan was more influential in a 50+ point shellacking. Outside of that, I wouldn't know.

As for Swanny, clear BOG against Cats in round 19 as voted by both coaching panels yet doesn't poll a vote. BOG against Port in a 30/40 point win but only gets 2 votes. The funny thing is an opposiiton player got the 3 in a big loss.

In 3 games where we towelled our opponents, an opponents player got the 3. 3rd being Boyd against Dogs after we outplayed them but went to sleep in the last quarter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Swanny only polled the 3 votes in games against hawthorn (I thought Daisy was BOG as did the coaches) and Richmond where he was BOG.

Win a Premiership medal instead Swanny. Ask Bucks which one he'd rather have.
