It's kinda obvious we're keeping Beams. Ow, & we're getting a kid called Josh Thomas

PL87 is sitting around reading the HUN and stumbles upon a little article in the sports section on page 62. So I decided to break some good news to you people.

"COLLINGWOOD has convinced Queensland youngster Josh Thonas to knock back the Gold Coast's top-level contract and enter the AFL draft.

It is believed Collingwood flew Thomas down to visit the coaches and tour the Lexus Centre, and has used Thomas's close friend and fellow QLDer Dayne Beams to encourage him to nominate for this year's draft"

I think other clubs may sit up and take notice this time around. It seems we managed to sneak Beams under the radar a little to pinch him at 29.

If this Josh Thomas kid is high quality (I have absolutely no idea) we would probably have to use our first round pick to nab him.

I thought that if they knocked back the GC offer, they weren't allowed to nominate for the draft the following year.

If we get this kid, hopefully he bulks up a little :p

The big story out of this is not that Collingwood might be able to draft this kid but that Beams convinced him to nominate so that hopefully he ends up at Collingwood. If you read between the lines it says that Beams will commit long term to Collingwood.:thumbsu:

If he's not living in Qld anymore is he in GC zone?

If he's good get him to play dead from here in and we'll nab him in the last pick.

so is dekka hine setting himself up for another excruciating wait till our second pick, or will we be looking at this one for our first pick? poor derrick, he almost had a heart attack with beams. you'd reckon clubs would almost be looking to draft thomas just because we're interested in him, considering our good recent drafting.

We did well to get Beams at #29, but we certainly didn't sneak him under the radar. We were on record saying we thought highly of him, and Inside Footy was running with the story that he was in contention for our first round pick. Obviously, other clubs simply didn't rate him as highly as we did.

If he does get snapped up by another club, then next year we should say were interested in a dud and dupe them into taking him

See how he plays first maybe?

How good is the fact that were keeping Beams. I love this kid and his just going to get better with every match at the pies! His a star in the making and a definate brownlow contender in the future!!! Go Beamy
