A strange decision for all those trades but why did the GCS not offer Bowes the same deal he is getting at Geelong. 4 years at $400k. and kept the pick 7.I’m just curious how he is going to be able to top his effort next off-season, which evidently seems to be what he is trying to achieve?
2019 - #11 for #27
2020 - Wright for a future 4th, only to use the salary saved on a 4 year deal for Rory Atkins
2021 - Brodie and #19 for a future 2nd
2022 - Bowes and #7 for a future 3rd
But it’s alright cos a change of fortune is right around the corner. Just trust him
If Jack Bowes takes 4 years at 400k for Geelong then that is just stupid.A strange decision for all those trades but why did the GCS not offer Bowes the same deal he is getting at Geelong. 4 years at $400k. and kept the pick 7.
I was thinking the same thing, surely they've added a little more onto his salary, if he gets his 850k per year for the first 2 seasons he is pretty much working for free for the last 2 seasons. If Jack Bowes takes 4 years at 400k for Geelong then that is just stupid.
That is of course assuming his salary really is 850k per season (which it may or not be; that’s just media reporting, but it would be pretty high with backended and deferred payments).
But if it is close to that and he spreads it over 4 years he is effectively spending 4 years to earn what he should be earning in 2 seasons. Why anyone do that…
We'll bring in Jack Payne from Brisbane to play along side him!All Australian next year
More to the point....why didn't we do the same when Geelong were given approval by the AFL to do it? We then keep Bowes on $400k per year AND retain pick 7. A borderline best 22 on $400k and a good pick to select another potential best 22? Horrific management.A strange decision for all those trades but why did the GCS not offer Bowes the same deal he is getting at Geelong. 4 years at $400k. and kept the pick 7.
Bowes games played under DewDew clearly didn’t rate Bowes or he would still be with us ( and pick 7) he also didn’t rate Brodie or 2MP and has been proven wrong
But does rate McPherson and Atkins, that’s disturbing

Nobody would want Atkins or McPherson - are they the last of the list cloggers? Caleb's close I guess but comes in handy in the direst of circumstances just like Darcy and Rory.Think it hurts more due to the fact there’s other list cloggers on our list.. who will get to go on again..
McPherson is on the list Bowes isn’t, there’s your reasonBowes games played under Dew

We tried to move Darcy last season and no takers, Darcy instead agreed to spread out his contract to help the club.McPherson is on the list Bowes isn’t, there’s your reason
PM me! Awesome feedback.Mark Evans called.
There are some things that I’d prefer to send via PM then post here.
But in essence acknowledged the club screwed the donkey on a few things. Including a certain free agent that hasn’t delivered.
With Bowes it was the culmination of a lot of things. Have been managing the salary cap each year. Asking players to wait till a year later to get paid, thus putting themselves too far behind. Ultimately ended up owing Bowes a LOT of money.. possibly more than what’s reported.
He did name 3 very big names that we spoke with this year, one of which was in their prime. And would have came.
But we just don’t have the $$ now. He asked that we judge the trade after next trade period. As we will be in the right position then to potentially bring someone big in.
Thanks for the update, the synopsis seems to be yeah we ****ed up yet again but don’t worry it will all be good after next years trade period.Mark Evans called.
