If that happens he'll probably need to understand there's not much point spitting the dummy if no other club wants you, all he had this year was St. Kilda and they changed their mind.
 
At the start of last season based on exposed form I thought Soldo was our best ruckman and I even had Visentini ahead of Sweet at that stage.

But Sweet improved as the season went on and unfortunately Soldo was injured and never caught up again.

It will be interesting to see how the three look in the 2025 pre-season.

Also if Sweet can improve that much in his mid-20s, how much more does Visentini have to fill the tank? I always thought he would end up the best of the three.

Wholeheartedly agree with every point made here!
 
IMHO, I thought Sweet was the better of the rucks and if he can get to a few more contests in general play especially with marking and possessions, he will become quite damaging.

A few on here forget about Soldo but he was pretty good and a fun watch early last year but I don't think he was as good or as impactful as Sweet but a very good second banana to have.

Hopefully with a stronger midfield in the SANFL, Visentini can get some reps up and really show what he can do with a regular cast of mids.

I rate him as a ruckman & thought his effort level when on the park was way better than many of his team-mates. I also believe we rushed him back from injury to his detriment. But the carry on around his partner & the subsequent media coverage reeked of arrogance. No-one forced him to come to PA but it appears he thinks he is doing us a huge favour. I hope he stays & gets back to the level he played at pre injury. Ruck depth is very important imo.

On last year's performance Jordan Sweet is miles ahead of either Soldo or Visentini. I realise it is early days but I am not yet sold on Visentini as he is like so many of the players we have recruited over the years- full of promise but yet to consistently produce the goods. On last year's efforts Sweet must be our first choice ruckman with Soldo and Visentini battling it out for the supporting role. If these three stay fit at least the Port Magpies will have some decent rucks.

I don't think he's anywhere near behind Dante yet.

He was rucking well until he got injured.

His sister's `cop that Richmond' in the rooms after a game early in the season was premature and unnecessary given the tiggers had no involvement in that particular game, which could suggest Ivan isn't the only member of the family who may be lacking in the trams and trains department.

With no serious interest from other clubs except for the aints who then pulled out of negotiations, hopefully he has got the message it is probably last chance saloon for his AFL career, and with the move to Adelaide of his gf we will hopefully see a much more dedicated player next season, particularly if through match ups or form there could be times he may have to play in the sanfl.

Feels like there is a lot of conjecture in this thread.

All I see is a guy who left a club in his hometown and where he was a premiership player looking for an opportunity to be a starting ruck rather than reserve ruck, ended up being reserve ruck anyway, had a look around for better opportunities, none presented, so he's staying put and getting on with it.

To my knowledge there's no issues with him from the club's end and he has acted totally professionally in the aftermath of the trade request falling through. Feels like people are a little bit preoccupied by the girlfriend angle but I don't think it's got much relevance beyond being good tabloid material.

You can't talk openly about Soldo's girlfriend without being actively censored by moderators.

I assume it is a directive from the club because a few dumb blonde jokes is pretty tame compared to what is allowed on other parts of Port Adelaide Big Footy.

The girlfriend angle is always relevant! ;)

I don't think it's a wild speculation to believe that a woman with her err... profile would rather live in Melbourne (or GC) than Adelaide.

Yup, this is my vibe. A good solid ruckman, which we didn't have until we signed him. Which was a nice boost.

But Sweet has more potential.

Except she's already denied that the trade request had anything to do with her.

I don't think it's wild speculation to believe that an experienced AFL ruckman would be looking for opportunities elsewhere if he was no longer considered the #1 at his current club.

Yep. Exactly this. And it's ingrained in the Malbun psyche that Adelaide is some backwater shithole. It's absolute fodder for press.
 
I dont know whats worse. Chucking the toys out the cot of one year of hardship because his knee exploded and his competitor crushed him, or uis girlfriend wanting to go back to Melbourne.

I feel like Ivan is the diva here, not that I think his missus has any brain cells either.
