I hope the Suns allow the poor kid to get home and be with his family that he is missing and needing in his life.
Yep. They shouldnt stand in the way of a young player wanting to be closer to family. He gave GC good four years of service.

That's how it works in AFL right?

Just let the kid go and do the right thing, he is far removed from his family and culture back in SA.

You're going to be disappointed come trade time then (providing he nominates you). Reminds me of Carlton supporters trying to convince themselves we would get Cerra for a future first or could split our current first and give a later pick.
This is not about the Crows or the Suns, its about doing whats right for the health and well being of the kid.

Maybe you'll be the one that's disappointed.
At this time, empathy and compassion must be shown towards Rankine to allow me to re-establish his close ties with his large but very close tightly knit family and community.

Doing the right thing for the health and well being of Rankine certainly isn’t going home to Adelaide.
There’s a lot of talk that even his manager is advising him not to go home because of the toxic environment his family creates for him.

Im not sure thats appropriate to comment about Rankine given how close he is to his brother in particular.

Yes I do know about this and what that entails.

Rankine needs to be home to provide him support as much as his family provides him for support.

I hope the Suns do the right thing by Rankine and the community in which he belongs to.

What a load of rubbish. If thats the case maybe the Crows should just give their next 2 first round picks for him? Make it a nice easy deal. Because it's not about the Crows or Suns. It's just about doing right by Isaac.

As a neutral, I would say that pick 4 (becoming pick 5 after Ashcroft as F/S) in a below average draft year is way short of the mark. As it stands, Adelaide hold picks 4, 22 and then very late picks. So there would be a real gap in the list build which needs reinforcing now and more than just Rankin.

I could see Adelaide offering up pick 4 and next year's first rounder (likely be 7 to 9) and get back 2 of the Suns second rounders this year (say picks 26 and 31). That would give Suns points for 2023 where they have 2 high end academy prospects and Adelaide would still have 2 picks inside 30 and another that will end up about 35. There is some decent SA talent in the draft this year. Alternatively trade picks 26 and 31 to the Lions for their first rounder - currently at 14 leaving you with 14 and 22. The draft does not appear to have the high end talent at the pointy end that recent drafts have had.

Is this satire? How is a player manager qualified to give that type of advice. Yikes.

Absolutely. The poor kid's mental health is the main consideration here, GC were given a lot of concessions, have plenty of draft capital anyway and shouldn't be greedy asking for too much.

Isn't that how the Vic media do it?

Just thinking about how this goes with Adelaide wanting JHF next year.

Salary cap would obviously be an issue with getting both in, but more the matter of picks.

Adelaide wont want to throw away too many future picks if they hope to get a deal going for JHF, indeed, they might even want to try and get some in.

So...Adelaide's 1st and 2nd this year (4/22 currently, but probably 5/6 & ~28 after F/S, academy, FA & PP) for Rankine and GC's future first?

Stuffs up Adelaide's draft prospects this year, but that's always going to happen to a degree, but sets them up with them the currency they'll need next year.

How very ‘Adelaide Crows’ of you to sarcastically frame an argument that may well be on Izak’s mind (yes we can see posts from other threads). Oh so timely too.

Never change Adelaide #texrules #culture

Then you would very well know that Rankine is very close with his family and brother in particular.

If Rankine has personal issues large enough needing him to "go home" then Adelaide could leverage their pick 4 in the PSD for that as no other team would pick up such a potentially risky selection.

But there's no talk like that at all, so it's worth nothing.

Given the history, a pick around ~10 is what he is worth.
