So then they starting bring them to ED where we are a bit “**** we have no where to put them and that one you brought tried to punch us last week” so we don’t really want them (as most hospitals have no access to detox or alcohol addiction specialists, and many drunks not interested either)

A man was hit by a car and killed in Wyndham Vale after a police request for help from the state’s new sobering-up program was rejected.

Three police sources, not authorised to speak publicly, said officers spoke to the man but were unable to arrest him after recent changes to the law, which abolished the offence of public drunkenness.

The other day we went to purchase something, it was $130 from the governments supplier. When we looked up direct with the company who made it, it was $30…

Even better, much like Chrisco they not only add massive markups, but most of their products are old versions, so they get them even cheaper.

Yet government rules are it doesn’t matter if it’s cheaper elsewhere, you must use the company that’s paid for earned the government contract.

Yet at the same time they’re enforcing these expensive contracts on us, they’ve cut our budget for the 5th year in a row.

Should look at the whole of government travel arrangements, you have to pay per booking for the pleasure of doing all the work on a website yourself to buy tickets or book rooms that are often far cheaper online direct from supplier. Our boss let us ignore if we could prove savings by doing a comparison, so we saved hundreds of K in just one branch and then he got in trouble for it.

But on the travel, ours was set up wrongly so anytime you wanted chargeback option it would be a manual intervention and they charged for it. Thankfully after a while it was set up properly.

Same thing has happened in the education sector... Department has mandated state-wide single source supplier for fire equipment maintenance. It's costing many schools more and has taken work away from local CFA brigades in the bush who have done it for decades. Deprives them of much needed income and breaks a community bond that has been there for years.

The Sunday Herald Sun has obtained a secret document that was given to the then-transport infrastructure minister in 2020, which modelled growth in passenger traffic across the whole rail network through to 2051.

The analysis showed that few people would travel on the SRL compared to those who would be using the booming growth corridors in Melbourne’s north and west, raising questions about the massive investment.

Labor ministers say the data was not shared with cabinet during key decision-making processes for the SRL, but that it shows the risk of providing “platinum treatment” to southeastern suburbs at the expense of growth corridors.

The leaked analysis shows that by mid-century – when Melbourne has eight million people – there would be only 24,000 trips a day between the first two SRL stations, Cheltenham and Clayton, in Melbourne’s southeast. It shows that by the same year, trains running between Sunshine and Footscray in the booming west would be crammed with a whopping 270,000 passengers.

No one would be surprised Cheltenham to Clayton would be the least used bit. It’s right at the end.

Many current lines which have enormous numbers of passengers just have single track at the ends.

There may be strong arguments, but this article seems to be cherry picking worst case

Maybe, but (a) this isn’t the end but the beginning of the line and includes Australia’s biggest university as well as Deakin, and (b) it’s a report by a government agency, not some Liberal think tank, and the damning thing is that it was withheld from Cabinet.

Why would the governments unsighted usage modelling be so different to the modelling by its own Rail Project agency?
