1. They've already been elected on CFMEU's money. The story on the weekend is merely the side effects of the repaying of political debts.
2. If actual corruption (rather than criminality) has taken place, then IBAC will hopefully do a job. I'm more interested in what happens with a VicPol investigation (VicPol getting involved in the gunshot victim is how this whole thing started I suspect)
3. Don't hold your breath from the current government
4. This will get no support from the companies involved because they want to complete contracts already entered in to.

I'm more interested in IBACC as I'm in the industry and want it to get better.
VicPol will only deal with inividuals where as IBACC can make broarder recomendations that could lead to more substantial changes

A promising development, but what it means is that Allen now has an out for answering any questions about the CFMEU and what the government knew.

I sincerely hope this time IBAC isn't treated with the same disdain that the Andrews government showed, labelling the damning report as "educational"

Would have expected the Premier to have displayed a little bit of intellectual curiosity over issues that were part of her remit as a minister, and at least tangentially associated with the image she wanted to portray of herself (at least until, coincidentally, last Friday)



She might have saved herself the embarrassment of being the last person in the state to work out that the CFMEU might have been a little dodgy.

The IBAC ‘investigation’ will never see the light of day and will be all forgotten by 2026. Much like the investigation into another big Union contributor to the Andrews and Allan Labor Government’s that occurred but has never been released. Originally delayed due to the Christmas being upsetting for the targets of the investigation, yet it’s now July and still crickets…
