The usual suspects will say "what else would you expect from the HUN?"Redbridge has it 50-50 in Victoria with the LNP primary in the 40s. Report in the H-Sun behind the paywall.
Will be interesting if they run with that as Redbridge who ran the poll is owned by Kos Samaras who used to be a member of the labor partyThe usual suspects will say "what else would you expect from the HUN?"
Victorians do not have confidence in Allen's ability to lead this state. Health, law & order, roads...
Allen has either been Infrastructure Minister or Premier for at least the last two years. In that time this government has flatly refused to hand over a detailed business case on SRL to Infrastructure Australia, the Federal agency, meaning the already limited Federal funding promised by Albo is yet to be paid. What does the refusal to hand over a detailed business case tell us? Either there is no business plan or the statistics do not stack up.
It is such a familiar theme with this government, and Victorians are awake to it. Dan was able to bat criticism away with conviction. Allan and her cronies like Pearson don't have that ability so they have adopted the mantra, "say nothing".

Who cares what we have? It's completely irrelevant. The Allan government expects federal funding. Money has been promised, but the Allan government won't hand over anything to support the case. What's so difficult to understand about that? You know thers an infrastructure victoria? Feds favouring nsw and qld over victoria for infrastructure is nothing new.

Would you hand over money without anything to show for the investment?
His political views have not changed. He's no longer a member?
Too much actually.I could be wrong but there already been some federal funding for SRL?
Looks like the Feds have tipped in $2.2B, but will not tip in any more without the business case. That was asked for 2 years ago!! The state government is actively seeking a further $10 billion in federal funds.I could be wrong but there already been some federal funding for SRL?

The Suburban Rail Loop: an infrastructure case study
The Australian Government’s largest infrastructure commitment in the October 2022–23 Budget is $2.2 billion for the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) in Victoria. The October 2022–23 Budget started a budget repair fiscal narrative, which included a focus on increasewww.aph.gov.au
Strange way to do business...
Is there a non paywall version of that? This is how dire Victoria’s debt crisis is. No. 154.
Hundreds of new social homes to be built on Crown land have been left without funding after the Victorian government quietly removed 15 projects from its Big Housing Build scheme to cut costs.

Delayed or seeking other funding sources it seems. Is there a non paywall version of that?
Are the sites going ahead just without any public or affordable component?
you know Rob you could have left your whinge about immigration out given without it we'd already be in recession so no government is going to stop itDelayed or seeking other funding sources it seems.

So at the same time housing supply is at best delayed, the Vic govt is begging the Feds to let more foreign students which will increase the demand on housing

The story here should be that the Government is saying homelessness isn't a priority for them
Budget savings at the expense of people
yeah social housing means it could be public or it could be run by another companyThe allocation is ****ed. We live around 10km North East of the city and there has been a huge vacant block of public land sitting there for years. Just announced that 450 townhouses/apartments are to be built with 10% allocated to "social housing" I don't even know what social housing is, sounds like some dodgy way of not doing public housing.
That whole lot should be dedicated to public housing. God knows its needed.
Immigration is part of the housing problem and the quickest way to reduce demand (cutting non skilled migration) without impacting on the economy if targeted properlyyou know Rob you could have left your whinge about immigration out given without it we'd already be in recession so no government is going to stop it
welcome to capitalism where the uni sector exists to make a profit off international students and the wider economy needs unending growth which only comes via population increase but also means governments don't want to build houses and impact their developer donors profits
the issue is not immigration and the people pushing it as the problem want to see the UK riots happen here
again this is based on the assumption that we don't have an artificial supply issueImmigration is part of the housing problem and the easiest way to reduce demand (cutting non skilled migration) without impacting on the economy if targeted properly
However there are many other solutions, the reason I highlighted was the govts decision to seek to increase demand for housing whilst at the same tjme cutting supply.
Given the scale of our housing problem, surely could find other cuts to deal with the debt they created other than hurting people in desperate need.

I just like how rank and file members of Vic Labor were already protesting how little public housing the project was going to deliverIf only there was $200bn dollars that could've been used for projects like this and many others. Oh well.
