There's a Synagogue a few doors down on Albert Street.

They could but they won't. Arresting nurses would be a vote killer.

You know what also stops arrests. Showing up in large numbers. Larger protests tend to lead to the outcomes.
Yes this always the attitude

They'll only use these powers against people I don't like so it's fine.

It never works out that way though but your average Australian seems completely oblivious to this fact so they get to pass the laws with minimal fuss

Isn't that what I'm arguing?
If it is, then this quote does not make that completely clear:
I couldn't care less about projects running over budget as long as you get what your supposed to out of it.

If you get what you are supposed to get out of it, but it costs twice as much as budgeted, is it still worth it? The statement above leads one to believe you aren't interested in the quantum of the budget overrun. Which is why I asked my question.

FRV Station 1 is across the road from a church.

I would think many people would support the proposed changes because for most people, their only interaction with a protest is not the issue but the inconvenience caused. I totally understand the inconvenience is a design feature of the protest. Doesn't mean most people then don't mind being inconvenienced.

The new "social cohesion" anti protest laws are pretty fashy
Plenty of people cheering on the erosion of democratic rights, the blindly cheering them on because they equate them with something that’s happening now that they dont care about, their tune will change when they are on the receiving end of something crap.

Yeah very much this
The funny part is the people who called Dan a dictator are strangely quiet on this one

It’s funny, so many times I’ve seen the dictator Dan crowd, or the crowd calling the Labor party communists, call for the overthrow of elected governments, its like they dont even realise they are advocating for authoritarian policies.

It's that whole will they use it against me thing.

They think the fash won't target them

The media will make a big deal out of the upcoming by-elections but Prahran is safe Green and Werribee is safe Labor.

It's almost two years until the next Vic elections. I expect Jacinta Allen will be moved on before that. She has the charisma of a plank of wood and baggage from record debt levels.

Carroll has more charisma but is too arrogant to be Premier. Werribee is not safe not sure where your getting that information from, Labor's lead in that seat has eroded substantially since 2014. It's the 1 area of Melbourne IMO they will cop a battering due to the lack of progress with infrastructure and amenities. Alot of the electorates out West I think are definitely in play by the next election.

Possibly, but the deck is stacked against the Libs.

Interest rates down, a possible Dutton government, and continued economic improvement will hurt the Libs chances.

Plus the good will from major project completions.

After today's events Labor would be bat shit insane to dump her. It would be like playing Fifa and running the ball into your own net.

Right now she's in the box seat to win just like Donald Trump was in the recent Us Election.
It's pretty amazing that the Vic Libs managed a lose lose for both Deeming and Pesutto.

Kind of incredible and absolutely of type.

Deeming still gone, and the nutters chuffed but clearly weakened. An ascendent Pessuto who took a somewhat principled stance against the cranks, suddenly dumped.

A former boofhead cop, in charge of the opposition. His broght ideas are new crime scare, cut taxes and services.

I've never seen a state or federal party in Australia this inept. This is US Democrat levels of complete political bumbling and out of touch tomfoolery.

Dude she won her court case, Pesutto lost the leadership and she's back in the party.

Pretty grim really
