There was some slight exaggeration with his choice of words. I loved the outrage of his peers, Lewis and Hodge, even more so.

C’mon boys, you played under Alastair Clarkson who couldn’t get out the way of an on-field scrap. I mean wasn’t that part of the Hawthorn DNA?

I guess now they are the young, brash, trash-talking gen zers who don’t hold back, except when they lose and Grandpa Ken has a stern word. Then they are all young and innocent 😂😂
What are you talking about? Mitchell always conducted himself with class as an onfield leader, he would never stoop to mocking an opposition.... oh wait

Akermanis without the talent. Just a circus clown who cares more about himself than his team.

Aker answered questions.

He would get asked something in a presser and give an honest and often arrogant answer. And deliver a performance on match day that was regularly top five on the field. Social media or lack thereof meant he wasn’t making a goose of himself unprompted

Ginnivan isn’t shit by any means but he isn’t at that level, he’s he’s not at the level of the other noted lippy guys and showboaters like SJ, or the controversy magnets like Toby Greene.

He’s a footballer who’s output - for the time being anyway, let’s not forget he’s only a kid and might get way better - matches pantomime villains like Stephen Baker or Hayden Ballantyne or Ryan Crowley but THOSE guys didn’t give it the biggen like he does.

So he’s in this weird spot at the moment where he’s got the arrogance of the great showboaters, and the player output of the villains and he’s somewhere in between. It puts him in a hard position where it’s hard for him to be liked as a larrikin or respected the way some of those other guys were.

Mitchell had every right to have a go at them. Essendon cost him the chance to stand on the stage on Brownlow night and thank all those who supported and influenced his career.

Regards

S. Pete

I'm sorry when did any of that happen when your about to chair a club legend off the ground and your getting lip from a classless coach who should know better in the heat of the moment? There's a reason Sicily had a crack back at him. You won the game, be gracious and show class not petulant unprofessionalism. Not sure Mitchell ever went at the opposition as a player after a match and has every right to stick up for his player here.

Be gracious, he says. You give it, you get some back champion. The way they’ve been carrying on the past few weeks it was bound to happen unfortunately.

Nah.

They've been talking shit all year.

Sicily could've copped the whack and gotten on with chairing his mate off.

Instead, he decided to talk back when they were the ones shit talking during the week and couldn't live up to it.

Just take the L and move on.

How long has Ken been in the game compared to Ginnivan? And your all here being apologists for him. Truly pathetic stuff. When should we start up the head ****ed thread again on our board?.

Sicily hasn't talked smack at all what on earth are you on about?. Apparently it's open season on anybody even in circumstances that have nothing to with a tweet. Sicily wasn't even upset about Ginnivan.

So if Ken says he was talking smack to Ginnivan about his comments on social media(he has form, remember #LightWork?), WTF is Sicily's problem?

Seriously, get over it.

We were about to chair off Breust you idiot. Keep enabling pathetic behaviour like your other mates on here.
Sicily was the one talking shit after Ken's comments.

He could've swallowed his pride and been the 'better' person.

Instead, he couldn't help himself and disrespected his teammate and made it about himself and not Breust.

Yeah that's what he should have done, bit like how Rozee was laughing next to Ken, that's how a real leader acts is it? Childish petulant behaviour from a low hanging fruit club.

Talk shit, get hit.

Maybe these Gen z numpties might finally understand consequences?

He doesn't do much and the Hawks already have the far superior Wizard if they keep improving I wonder how long they will even keep playing Ginnavin for

Looking forward to him dressed as a schoolboy on mad Monday as an ode to Mitchell's whine about some really aggressive comments made by much older man.

The icing on the cake would be if he is stupid enough to go to the game in Sydney and the Power win.

If he has any brains he will eat some humble pie and disappear until October.

As Buckley said when Lewis went down this path post game, there was pretty clear separation between the two incidents and if there wasn’t, it was because Sicily wanted to continue it.

Again in the post match, it’s suddenly not Jack Ginnivan being the arrogant, brash and out spoken player that instigated this, it’s a young player having some very aggressive words (you’re not flying? 😂😂) spoken to him by a much older man and it is so out of line.

Ignore the fact it’s your own team, but for years blokes like Mitchell, Lewis and Hodge played uncompromising, anti-social football and went over the line on plenty of occasions. Suddenly, all three are taking the moral high ground here, ignoring the instigator who started it and with some great use of semantics, trying to twist this into some horrible act.

It’s a bit ironic no, and probably why 95% of the general footy public think Jack and Hawthorn got what they deserved and should eat it. Live and die by the sword, especially when your club spent decades wielding that sword wherever they wanted and on more than one occasion got it wrong.
