Oppo Camp Jack Ginnivan (Traded to Hawks 2023)

I think today was the first time he was phased JB. The frustrations came out but what I liked from him after he was quiet and not getting much up forward he moved up the ground to get involved.

That‘s my point Soups………he didn’t give away a 50 but he still turned it around on “his” terms

Pendles rightly got a Ginni free but not Ginni 3 times? Cheats

The kid is being bullied by the umpires - they are destroying him and Turing him into a football pariah - all because they don’t know how to adjudicate their own rules.

I hope the club is getting a presentation of all the missed frees, undue treatment - on and off the ball….

If Selwood got this treatment his career would have been over in 24 months.

The scum have fallen to new depths.

I was going to start a thread

Enough is enough………….it is blatant cheating to umpire him differently………….which is what is happening

Kudos to the kid because he doesn’t get fazed.
Pendles and Noble, just to name two frees for high tackles, were EXACTLY the same as those not paid to Ginnivan.
CFC should definitely ask for a please explain- it’s completely absurd that Ginnivan is being singled out in such an egregiously biased way.

One thing I've noticed with Ginnivan, he's not as good at drawing the high tackle as he might think.

Pendles and Noble are cases in point; they seem far more subtle (i.e. less obvious) in their efforts compared to Jack.

For myself, I hope that Ginnivan just keeps trying to develop the rest of his game, because he can be a good footballer.
Agreed. He will have to. Despite the umpires using a different rule book for him the opposition seems to have wised up. If they don't over commit to the tackle he ends up on the ground with nowhere to go & then easy to ping for holding the ball.

Frustrates me they didn't let this play out on the field rather than target Ginni through umpiring. I have no doubt teams would have learnt how to deal with it.

Ginnivan was forced to go to his back pocket and look for a few other tricks.
And he had them.
And I liked it.
Nobody likes players that milk frees.
The umpires have been told to make him earn them (clearly).
The AFL control umpires.
Umpires control the game.
The AFL control the game.
The AFL are challenging Ginnivan.
He’s already at the cross roads.
The game is already asking Ginnivan questions.
In the second half he had answers.
Good on him.
This is the new direction ahead.
Stop flopping for frees.
Today he showed, in a very tough game, that he doesn’t have to rely on flopping.
He can produce more.

Yes he plays for frees.

And should be called for holding the ball when caught, but you can't ignore legit frees.

He's being umpired differently to every other player and it's a disgrace.

And the dirty hits off ball and at the bottom of packs is infuriating.

The hate from the crowd and social media is over the top.

Hope he stays in a good head space.

At what point does it become an OH&S issue? He is free game off the ball which is a disgusting way to allow a first year player to be treated…and that 50 was bullshit. It’s boardering on bullying IMO. The player’s association should say something if the club and the afl don’t. You have to give it to him for keeping his head up (pardon the pun) and staying in the game though. Great character.

He is severely hampered by a lack of leap and foot speed. If he isn't getting any frees he's in a spot of trouble.

You could say the same about Pendlebury. Ginni has footy IQ and toughness. He'll be fine.

I'm impressed at his resilience, he's bloody tough considering his size.

Really liked his last qtr when he played up the field, thought he was very important.

How he's being umpired is an absolute disgrace and I really want us to keep questioning why he's getting treated the way he is. I know AFL is a hard sport to umpire because of the subjectivity when interpreting the rules, but the attitude of the vast majority of AFL umpires is just pathetic. They really make my blood boil.

In the long run it's probably good for Ginni to go through this adversity even if it's not fair, he wasn't going to be able to keep milking frees inside 50 forever, the opposition would've adjusted eventually.

So far I think he's attitude has been great.
