That Selwood one was from early in the year. It was a clear cut free and was paid. Have we got to the point of highlighting and whinging about frees that we were paid? Or loki04, have you of all people gone soft and feel that Selwood should have been suspended?

I know it was earlier in the season I was highlighting by sarcasm how when put in a headlock people reach for the offending arm.

Now that is an interesting suggestion. Not in this case but clearly in a few other cases this years players have need deliberately wrenching on Ginni's neck, knowing they can get away with it. Given its a high risk area surely it's worth a rough conduct fine?
Under MRO looking at the Redman and Selwood ones - intentional, high contact. It's whether the impact is low or not enough to make the Grade.

I think it's the latter. Really don't want to see players get suspended for headlocks. And calling for it feels like we want to see the umpires do what we are complaining about them doing - treating incidents with Ginnivan differently due to the body of evidence over the year, rather than just looking at the incident in isolation.

Yeah, I reckon you are right. Still if you were playing on Ginni next week the first thing you say is go near the ball we are going to rip your head off. Then any team member that gets a chance to would do it. Premeditated & surely will continue until the umps change tact.

Beggars belief that wrenching someone’s head/ back can be ignored. Where the “ duty of care” ?

Yep. It's a shit situation that I think has been handled badly by all.

You can shove him in the back too with impunity.

I've only see the incident once. It seemed to me that there was slight contact in the back, but that Ginni propelled himself forward in a very theatrical fashion.

Umpires can be loathe to pay those, because it looks like they're rewarding the performance rather than the actual contact.

Why was the headlock given to ginni from tuohy not paid a free? Not only was it a scummy act but also clear as day high? Unbelievable. The push in the back one was also complete bull, I can guarantee if that was a Geelong player it for sure would of been paid. I actually legit feel sorry for Gin, he is a constant target and many times is legitimate tackled high and can not get a free to save his life. The afl disgusts me some times.

Yes the push in the back one was a 50/50 call whilst the push is there Ginnivan made the most of it.

The headlock however...

Might be my rose coloured glasses but looks to me like Ginni just grabs Dangerfield's arm and 1 second later Adams crashes into Dangerfield thrusting him forward.

I've tried to make sense of shoddy footage.

I think that Ginnivan has been reckless, not malicious, but the way in which he turned his own body whilst having hold of Dangerfield's arm isn't particularly good.

It could have taken Paddy's arm in places it isn't meant to go.

But of course, the tone of outrage from Robbo blows it out of proportion.

Yeah I suppose it may be a bit careless. Maybe he is getting a bit angry out there. Gets belted every week- head rubbed into the turf, headlocked x 3, properly chicken winged himself.

I think we know by now that Ginni must love the punishment. He's one of those types of sickos.

In any case, he's not allowed to be unorthodox with the league's poster boy.

I might be drunk but i can't see Ginni grabbing his arm, if anything Tay is

You're probably drunk.

Having said that, I was squinting at the footage until my eyes were closed, so I don't trust my own 'vision' of it at all.

What sick obsession the media has with Jack. I cannot believe how calm and unruffled he is onfield given the blatant targeting he has copped from opposition players (fair enough) media and umpires.

I remember playing a game of suburban footy years ago. We were destroying a bottom side and the ump kept pulling free kicks out of his backside for the side we were belting. I asked him why he was cheating and explained that the scoreboard should have no bearing on how he umpires. How Jack has not walked over to one of the many who have burned him on so many occasions and given them an earful I will never know.

Just an aside. I was watching On the Couch tonight and they were discussing Papley and what a shit stirrer he is and described him as the best goal celebrator in the game. Lyon laughed as they showed footage of him going ape droppings and getting in the face of opponents after he snapped a goal and said "Good on him!" Great for the game or something to that effect. It blows my mind. Ginnivan was torn apart for putting his hand to his ear or shooshing the crowd on ANZAC Day just as AJ and Jeremy Cameron did. It's truly ridiculous to see the different sets of standards depending on which player is involved.

Write Gaz Lyon a letter. I'd be interested in his explanation for the double standard.
