So his defensive pressure is not a concern then? Is that your point?

After 2 matches?! He’s at least three seasons from having an AFL hardened body and you know what if he’s lacing guys out still by then I couldn’t give two shits if he lays one tackle for a year. We’ve needed someone with that little somethin somethin about them since Didak finished up and it’s exciting so don’t be a downer.

They've got to draw a line somewhere. The line is drawn regarding whether you stop the bloke making an effective disposal. Seems fair enough to me.

Some of these mids are so good that unless you pin the arms or ball, you might as well have just corralled them. Cause they'll hit their target even if you're hanging off them. Someone like Libba for example.

No idea what the pressure acts stat comes from, but I assume that it fits in there.
If you've forced the player to deviate from what they were doing then the tackle has been successful in my mind, still reckon they got it wrong.

How do you judge it though or differentiate between a tackle that breaks up the play and one that doesn't?

You pin Libba so he doesn't get off an effective disposal, you get credited with a tackle. You grab him around the waist with his arms free and he fires the ball off to Bont and I daresay it's a pressure act stat.

It fair enough, the issue is that we don't have easy access to the pressure act stats to have a better measure of who is applying pressure.

1: Discussing a young players strengths and weaknesses is not "taking a pot shot"
2: Discussing the tackle count when analysing a medium forward's pressure is not a "questionable" stat.
3: His pressure is fine? Okay, we'll see if you're right

You are just negative on everything. But you claim its an opinion so it cant be disproved.

Yes, he often corrals players he's close to rather than run them down, doesn't appear to apply much pressure to them over the TV, but the stats say they do...
I'm looking forward to JDG learning that it's often better to corral than to charge a bloke and miss the tackle.

If you've laid the tackle you've laid the tackle, it's completely unnecessary to bring anything else into it for mine or the very questions you bring up come into play, they've drawn a line where they didn't need to. If you needed a line I would have thought break the tackle and it's not counted, like a dropped mark.

Yeah... you must be one who thinks defensive pressure isn't an issue I'm guessing, correct? Or do you secretly know I'm right...

Ranked =7th for the team on pressure acts... just saying...

Surprised at the zero tackle stat swear he got a couple.

whilst he’s no McCreery he looked much improved in the pressure department from the first game where he was basically a traffic cone.

I don’t get this hate against corralling, it’s very easy to get stepped when fully commit to a tackle.

Mayne is the king of it, he knows that if he goes the lunge he’ll get stepped around. Frustrating to watch him do it, but the corralling will usually impact the quality of the disposal, so it’s effective.

I remember a couple he put on Naitanui alone; very strange.
