Oppo Camp Jack Ginnivan (Traded to Hawks 2023)

We know he gets no favours from the scumps; but Jack looks down on confidence and shows signs he is getting frustrated. Things are not coming off for him, and the way we play -our smaller forwards need big tanks and good pace, neither of which Jack possesses.

I have a feeling it will be Elliot in and Jack out, or as the sub against the Dees.

His body language wasn't a great sign today. Short on opportunities but doesn't seem to work hard enough without the ball. Not fast, weak in the air, not a strong tackler. Can't see him in our best 22.

He looks like he’s struggling to get in the rhythm of the game.

His forward defensive pressure is a bit off - he looks like he’s more trying to be seen to put on pressure rather than actually putting on real pressure. There were times he pulled up from applying pressure when his opponent still had the ball.

And he needs to spend more time running to better positions and less time arms outstretched pleading for the ball.

I have a feeling it will be Elliot in and Jack out, or as the sub against the Dees.

Probably depends on McCreery. Elliott might need to cover for him.

I think given the choice between Harrison and Ginnivan, I’d keep Harrison. I thought he showed enough to work with.

Jack had a good game against North. A frustrating game for him today. He'll bounce back. He loves the big stage. I'd keep him in for KB.

What constitutes a pressure act.
"Pressure Act (Chasing): Where a player applies pressure from behind an opponent by chasing. They must be gaining ground or applying pressure significant enough to hurry the ball carrier to dispose of the ball."

PRESSURE ACT
Each disposal has pressure assigned to it, ranging from no pressure for a set position to closing, corralling, chasing or physical pressure. A pressure act is when a player has applied either closing, corralling, chasing or physical pressure.

He's just not that good, it's been apparent but people have been willing to wallpaper over the cracks.

He's not a footballer, the eye test has always said so.

Determined by a person who doesn't understand this game, obviously.

Lacks pace. Said it multiple times. It’s my biggest worry with him.
Deadly in front of goal but yeah lacks pace. Harrison could be his replacement although I wouldn't be putting money on it.
Ginni hasn't played many bad games. An excellent season last year and better then average this season.

He doesn't just lack pace, he lacks game awareness or any sense of being a footballer if he can't use his body for a free.

Dude, keep it quiet, we wanna trade him out to some sucker team for a late first early second.

You are spot on though. His efforts today were horrific. Efforts. There wasn't any. And who wears long sleaves on a sunny 18 degree day?

Would you like to offer an explanation to the rest of us as to how Ginnivan isn't a footballer, seeing as you understand the game so well?

Here's a clue: the 'eye test' isn't an answer.
Tell me what he does well as a footballer?

Here's a clue, the eye test is the answer.

He's a very limited footballer.

He is 20 years old. He was a bright spark in the AFL world last season.
He started this season off on the back foot, admittedly getting himself into trouble and then missing a chunk of footy as a consequence (fair enough).
Since then, he has struggled a bit to get his mojo back. He looks low on confidence. Confidence is something that can be regained.
I really want to see our confident lil goal kicking pest out there.

I don't understand why some people seem so happy to just kick the dog while he's down. Why don't you want our player to go well?

The eye test of the average supporter is not very reliable. You don't kick 40 plus goals in starvation corner if you are just not that good. He does have some deficiencies as do all players but a five-possession game from Jack can often result in 2 or 3 goals.
