Jack Reacher - TV Series

They're both based on books. It's not like they just quickly made something up for s2.
To be fair, the books are fairly formulaic. I really enjoyed reading them, until he started getting his brother to write them... but they are definitely formulaic.

** That's no different to a lot of other authors, whose works could also be described as formulaic.

Oh I agree. I stopped reading them for that exact reason. They started to feel like Mills & Boon for guys. I'm just not sure that poster realises it's not the producers/writers. They're just working with the material already out there.

c'mon...i know (and so does everyone else, don't take ppl for idiots) they're all adapted from Lee Child books, no haven't read them.

S1 from book still felt fresh, funny, with an air of mystery, like who TF is this big massive dude ?

S2 is like the 'team' now comprises of the nerdy looking guy, dead eye dick we already know, then add the hot looking 'accountant', they just don't compare to the unknown of 'tweed' and Roscoe.

hello forum, I need help, when this rolls up in an ep of Reacher

"Based on Bad Luck And Trouble by Lee Child and his character Jack Reacher"

what does it mean ? my intelligence seem to have deserted me... not that I had any to begin with.
Man, just STFU.

Lee Child is an author.
Lee Child writes books in which the central character is named Jack Reacher.
Jack Reacher is the central character in 20+ of Childs' books.
One of these books is titled "Bad Luck and Trouble".
Series 2 of the TV series Jack Reacher is based on this book.

Simple enough for you?

By the time this novel rolled around in the book series the 'team' thing was a novelty because there'd been quite a number of novels with just a solo Reacher working with random law enforcement individuals, and imo they've not quite 'earnt' that with the TV show because they've adapted this particular book a bit too early in the series.

I wasn't as satisfied with the final episode of season 2 as I was with season 1, but it was still a very good season and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in Season 3.

While it was nice to see Langston (Robert Patrick) thrown out of a helicopter, it would have been more satisfying to see him with smashed kneecaps and his feet facing the wrong way, I don't think I've hated a character quite as much since George from Seinfeld and this time it was because he was a genuinely repulsive human being and not just an arseh*le. :)

Also, all the action was over in the first 20-25 minutes and the remainder of the episode was just filler, there were a couple of scenes that I felt they could have expanded a little and then perhaps the final 10-15 minutes may not have dragged on as much.

Fully expect to see Neagley again the season 3, but I hope we Dixon as well, she is quite a stunner.

Next series will be back to lone Reacher

Just finished episode 4. It's good fun. Put one on each night when I get back from a run while I stretch because my old body breaks otherwise. It's great for entertaining without demanding you give it full attention all the time. These guys really need to consider occasionally letting someone live though. Could be very helpful and interrogations could really assist with special investigations.

Yeah the finale was very much by the book and nothing too ground breaking. And - let's face it - apart from the physical aspects Reacher's actor isn't that much chop.

I'd be fine if there isn't a season 3 tbh.
I reckon part of that is on the production team and what they want the character to be, because you look at the previous stuff he's done and he's certainly a lot more animated and out there.

I'm looking forward to season 3, the show won't be winning any awards but it's an entertaining show.

Watched the first 3 episodes of season 2 last night. This show just gets it so right - everything is exactly how I imagine it from reading the books.

The Reacher of the TV series is nothing like the Reacher movies, with that undersized pygmy in the title role. The TV series is better in every possible way.

Season 2 fair bit below the first season IMO.

The bad guys were so ridiculously inept it became completely unbelievable by the season finale.

I haven't read the books but Reacher's complete disregard of the law seemed to be on a totally different level this season.

I watched it and enjoyed it. But I wouldn't recommend it like I did with season 1.

Was it a strange choice to have:

Season 1 based on book 1
Season 2 based on book 15. ???

Was it 2 or 3 or something where he was kidnapped, and you find out about his sniper skills? That would have made a good series.

More emphasis on the loner aspect before bringing on the team?

Season 3 is based on book 7
