Settle down. They may miss Finals, but I'd have thought you'd know not to count your chickens before they hatch. If West Coast do make the Finals, then it could well be at the expense of Richmond.

I'm not jumping the gun mate - we are still a long way off making finals, heck if someone offered a guaranteed 8th place right now, I'd seriously consider taking it. FWIW, I actually like the eagles and Kennedy but the guy I was replying to (despite his bs being dispelled by Ron's stats) kept insisting Riewoldt wasn't currently one of the best KPFs in the league and. Like him or hate him, you can't say he isn't - stats and career achievements do the talking.

Have you even watched a Richmond game? Riewoldt, Vickery and Edwards and or McGuane all take there man out of the F50 to give other forwards space, Riewoldt isn't a CHF, he's your traditional FF who has exceptional reading of the ball in the air and extremely good body work.

It's a reason why when Richo and Schultz left Riewoldt truly shined, the FF position became his and he became the #1 target.

I suggest you watch more games to see how our F50 functions, because at the moment you are way off the mark.
I've watched plenty of Richmond games this year. And when you play lesser teams you move the ball quickly and all your forwards look dangerous. When you play the teams you've lost to this year none of your big forwards look any good as players who will come up the ground and help move the ball from the backline to the forward line. Then at times you start chipping the ball around half back and that can sometimes draw the moans of disappointment from the punt road end and at times a turnover.

My point is simple in an ideal world Richmond would replace Edwards or McGuane with a traditional CHF and then get the ball in to Riewoldt or Vickery who are both better suited closer to goal.

Without doing that if I was Richmond I would focus on quick and aggressive ball movement which may be more attacking than what is in vogue.

You obviously don't agree but from what I see of Richmond I think they still lack some class in the back 6 although it is on your list it is just about developing it. I think that point is proven by when Deledio stops getting the ball and moving it as he does the whole side slows down. And the second area of weakness is sorting out the best forward structure that compliments your game plan.

I think we have to stop labeling players 'FF' or 'CHF' - that's a relic from when the teams lined up in positions, and played mark-and-kick. These days we expect forwards to roam all over the front half of the ground - sometimes right up to the wing. How many times have we seen the flood - and 'There's no one forward of the centre!'.

You need skills on your forward line - - big pack mark skills, crumbing skills, 'goal-assist' skills, leading skills. You them look for matchups in your favour. If Riewoldt plays on a big gori-...., sorry:oops:, a large, strong, muscle-bound full-back, he gets on his bike. If he plays on a smaller, more mobile, active full-back - he might stick to the goalsquare. Every side has someone like Richmond has with Dustin Martin - a midfielder who is also strong mark. When you get a favorable matchup, you push him to the goalsquare and tell your traditional Full-forward to get the hell out. But you need the balance of skill, space to work, support and decent delivery to make a forward line.

The more of these skills a player has, the better forward he is. Sure - sometimes you need the big lunk for when the only option is to bomb the ball in. Sometimes you need the forward to run down the ground to the wing as a hit-up target. Our game has adapted the Dutch tactic from the 70s - Total Football.

Unlike Richmond fans I don't waste my time going to every negative thread about a Carlton player and then start whinging.
Too many? And what the hell is a 'whining'?
