There would certainly be a way of designing the original contract to have triggers that increase the years and reduce the base rate (as you appear to be suggesting), but I am not sure the AFL would sign off on it. There are no known rules against any of it, but the implication appears to be that the AFL doesn't like that sort of compo manipulation.That is the same as triggers though in essence
But that isn't what we are talking about. We are discussing adding them in after compo is given. I suspect the AFL would likely respond even more negatively towards that based on their reaction to the Daniher debacle.
Then again, despite all the controversy and the deep AFL investigation and press leaks, nothing ended up happening. Once again, the AFL is as clear as a murky swamp.
