Lewis for Omeara. Hawks regenerate their midfield and lose Lewis who is similar to other types we have, GC gets a senior but not past it midfielder with some leadership ability rather than more draft picks.

Nope, a security guard from the Grand Final said it.
I find it pretty hard to believe that Hawthorn would associate directly with O'Meara on a day like that, with so many eyes and ears around.

I'm calling bullshit.

Not going to happen.

You don't trade your VC, for starters, but he's too old to have any real currency with the Suns.

I can't wait until he nominates hawthorn and all the bombers fans can go home crying they can't threaten a PSD
If it's the hawks then I sincerely believe that GC will get proper and fair compensation. I don't see hawks wasting anyone's time.

Regardless of what kind of box it was in this alternative universe if he actually did it, GCS would've found out and gone absolutely crazy and it would've been a massive story.
You don't think that O'Meara being courted by hawthorn for 12 months and that he has requested a trade from the Gold Coast is a "massive" enough story to come out of it?

Him sitting at the grand final with Hawthorn officials is just a blatant lie buddy, being courted by another club for 12 months having regular contact via his manager and other clubs? Yeah, I can believe that.

Who has said he only wants to go to Hawthorn? I don't think he has announced where he wants to go. I also haven't heard that he has been touring any facilities either. Given he was still in Queensland as of Wednesday, and given that we haven't seen any footage/heard any reports of him arriving/leaving other club HQ's, I'm not sure of the accuracy of this.If Lin Jong was found out for doing it, I think there is fair chance that O'Meara would be.
But to answer the crux of you question, hopefully adequately, I'd suspect O'Meara or any player of his profile will choose his preferred destination based purely on what is best for himself, his career and his family, not even considering what would need to happen between the 2 clubs initially. They would certainly be able to very quickly assess whether there is a realistic chance of an appropriate deal being possible between the 2 teams, by way of available assets etc. While that realistic chance remains, I'd imagine that the player would be happy to continue to dig in their heals. I'm also sure that the player and his management would have a very good idea of what their other options are, and of which they would prefer. Only if and when their preferred destination becomes genuinely unrealistic (assets to trade not available, insurmountable accrimony) would they even consider option B or C.
Just to illustrate what I'm trying to say.
Using O'Meara as an example, would there be a club in the league right now who would have absolutely no realistic ability to negotiate a realistic trade with the Suns for O'Meara? You could possibly argue Collingwood and Geelong due to no 1st rd picks being immediately possible, but other than that, I would suggest every other team would be a realistic possibility on the surface. So that being the case, if I were O'Meara, I would very firmly demand only going to the team of my choice, and leave it to they and the Suns to sort it out. Lets say he does choose Hawthorn. There is absolutely enough assets in play for some realistic and meaningful negotiation to take place where there is more than enough reason to believe that an acceptable deal could happen between the 2. If it gets to the point where there was no realistic chance, I'd suspect O'Meara would consider other options, unless he was happy to go to Essendon in which case he could continue digging his heals in of course.
It's just a player trying to maintain whatever power they have for as long as possible.
I'm sure I've been clear as mud, sorry about that Mr Uppercut. Enjoyed your contributions today :thumbsu:
Great post mate, thanks for your considered opinion :thumbsu:

Well start believing...buddy! Or maybe go on a little fact finding mission so you can make up your own mind where he's going.

Outstanding entertainment guys. I like the banter, esp the bit where Abasi doesn't deny "making shit up" but defends that he isn't this time.

O'Meara in a corporate box with his manager and Hawks on GF day is just about the best post I've read on BF.

Franklin did that with the Swans. Supposedly he agreed to come to us and we were working with his manager for a full year to get the contract right etc..... It is slightly different that O'Meara is not a free agent but it is not that big a stretch, it is not a stretch at all actually.
