I am warming to the idea of getting him to come clean on all his indescretions while under the guidance of the EFC and going to the press on how bad his world was and how we are going to give him a chance to restart his career. The more we are able to associate his actions to the EFC now the better. Anthing that comes out in 6 months time, even from his dark Essendon days, we will have to live with.
Absolutely agree.

I wonder what Essendon leaders are thinking. On a human level. I'm amazed there have been no questions directed their way.
Were there questions about them over Lovett? Were there questions about Dodoro blatantly lying about Richmond's interest in Carlisle? Hell, they got caught running a systematic drug program, and the biggest question most of the media could be bothered asking was how the poor dears were coping.

Bombers fly high above any serious media scrutiny.

I like this. Have been thinking what strategy that should be used. Saints have been on the front foot, Carlisle needs to do so as well. Needs to do an interview on ACA and do the whole mea culpa and admit everything, including what drug he was taking.

Talk about it is a crossroads in his life and it is a turning point. Do this on any media who wants to interview him.

Has to come clean and start again from scratch. In the long run it will be good for a bloke who is full of himself. Some humility wont go astray. He doesn't want to go down the Carey path.

Yeah, Carlisle needs to come clean about it all now.
That said, if a second video is released, I don't think he needs extra punishment. Unless that second video was taken in the last 24 hours.
I've done a 180 on the situation from this time yesterday, I'm thrilled with how the club handled it and I'm actually quite happy with Jake's statement too. I thought it was fantastic he didn't pussyfoot around.

He's had a tough few years, a lot of the Bombers have. He clearly was not happy with the club and how things were going. If his drug use stemmed from that, it should be no issue moving forward. He'll cop his wack from the club, I'd like to think he'll end up a stronger player because of it. He will work hard to prove his worth, he'll work hard to be one of the team, and sure as shit he knows what is expected of a Saint moving forward.

Dan Richardson did enquire about JC. He acknowledged it in another interview. I think almost all clubs would enquire about talented players when available - Collingwood and North wouldn't have been the only ones to ask about Aish for instance.

I agree with your post otherwise - Dodoro's tactics were overall dirty. I hope we have learnt our lesson in dealing with them.

FWIW the poster on Sainsational that said there is a second video and he has seen it said it was on par with the first one. So not exactly ground breaking. I would be surprised if new groups were interested TBH or if the public would even be outraged. The first, yes. A similar video, no.

Any of the AFL players who do a bit of toot toot in the offseason would do it more than a one off.
Im not saying its right, but i just wanna judge him from what he does from now on.

because they all go for the bombers...

Not sure if it has been mentioned here yet. Caroline Wilson said on 3AW tonight that Danny Frawley has put his hand up to be Jake's mentor around the club as a little project for him. She said that Danny has been really excited about the direction of the club and she spoke about how good of a leader he is, she said he is meant to be there part time 2-3 days a week but he is there a lot more than he needs to be. She said that Alan Richardson and Danny are really close now and have spoken about this as a possibility going forward.

Hopefully Danny can be to Jake what Billy Brownless was to Stevie J when he kept getting into trouble early in his career.

This even more so because he was still a player and Worsfold tried to talk him around to STAY at the club.

How they can not be forced to explain whether other players are doing similar is beyond me. Meanwhile, smart ass supporters say 'sucked in'.

Shock value has gone. Could be ten of them. Really if you are dumb enoughto do it once, you could have done it a number of times.

Dont think it was his first time having a toot.

Regardless, IMO the line in the sand was drawn 7.00pm yesterday evening.

There is a before and after. He has stuffed up big time, has unreservedly taken responsibility for it and now he has a chance at our club to put things right.

All up to you Jake Carlilse

The same smartarse supporters who claim their club is professional, while ours is amateur.

The same smartarse supporters who claim their club is rich and powerful, while ours has to beg for charity.

The same smartarse supporters who claim their club is extremely successful, while pointing out our solitary flag and hoping we never add to it.

Yes, their club is so bloody professional that someone like Carlisle is able to fall into potentially career ending behavior after 6 years in their system.

There's a lot more to running a successful football club in the modern era than simply building a huge training facility and handing over the keys to a favourite son, all the while closing your eyes to any fractured souls your methods are producing.

The Bombers response to Jake's "this club is f___ed" comments was anger and ridicule. It was obviously a cry for help from a bloke who, along with his team mates, has been through 2 seasons of hell.

Let's not consider we (Essendon) may have created the 2015 version of Carlisle.

No better to bag out the guy, ridicule him and laugh at his current predicament.

Pathetic

Hey Joffa, could you please summarize what he says mate? I'm in QLD and no access to SEN. Cheers
I am in hospital and just now have access.

Saints need to rewrite his contract. Give him one chance. Thats it

Finnis sounded tired

Basically reiterated what he said earlier in the presser.
Asked if the substance was drugs, answered like a politician ie non answer

Said if it was illicit substances Carlisle should get a strike.

Asked why so calm. He said whole club from him down to administration coach and players was anything but calm.

Carlisle has a power of work to do and learn about the values of THE STKFC.

Possibly one of the stupidest things he had seen in football.

He is ours now so we need to deal with or.

So he is saying Carlisle needs to be the football version of Mother Teresa and he has had his one chance.

Nothing ambivalent about Finnis and our clubs position

Thanks for the summary

So glad we got spud back to the club. Bleeds the colours and will set carlisle straight
If only Barks were still around no one would ever question our "culture".

Hope he learns from this, deletes all the essendon fan deadshit mates and Greg Williams's daughter from his life and makes new buddies by the bay, ones he can trust. Good news to see Frawley put his hand up for a mentoring role.

Interesting that we knew enough about Bennell to steer well clear, but Jake slipped under the radar. The benefits of going wild overseas and not in your back yard.
