Interesting bloke and I gained even more Respect for Jake King after watching open Mike tonight.

Sheahan really went after him about his friendship with Toby Mitchell and Jake handled with total aplomb: basically saying, I have family and friends like we all do and off course I will always stick by them because they stick by me. Also telling Mike what was reported on many occasions was actually factually incorrect.
Comes across as a bloke who was always driven to succeed. Qualified plumber at 20 on $100K per annum and took a huge pay cut to $30K per annum when Rookie listed.

They also, spoke about the awesome time he spent with and what he did for Nate Anderson and his family...... great to see young Nate is now fit and healthy.

It's just ****ed how during his career the media tried to go after him because he is friends, just simple mates, with a notorious identity and didn't look enough at the fantastic bloke he is.
Worth a watch and I'd buy him a beer any day.

Never met him personally but know a few friends who have. They all have nothing but nice things to say about the Pushup. Never judge a book by the cover and all that.

Apparent stupidity? Why do you say that? Did you watch the show? Or are you just being a flog?

In all fairness he doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb on the porch. Like when he was questioned by Mike about bringing Mitchell into the clubrooms he focused on Richmond not explicitly telling him he can't (therefore he didn't do anything wrong), as opposed to the inappropriateness of doing it in the first place. As if a club really needs to tell their players that you shouldn't bring a bikie gang boss into the rooms after a match.

Interesting character though.

Must we gloss over the fact Toby Mitchell is in the pokie for drug trafficking? And the Bandidos are not exactly Rotary?

Lay down with dogs....

Not specific to this but what if he is/was family, like brother or father family?

I actually think he came off as an idiot. After Mike was asking him about Toby he blurts out did you pick your family. To which Mike comes back with no but Toby isn't his family and then he replies well my friends are my family. Okie dokie then... cool stuff, but why ask Mike if he picked his family.

Wouldn't have thought it would matter. You'd have to be thick not to realise that bringing someone like that into the club is, at best, a bad look. At worst, well...introducing drug dealers to a bunch of young men full of cash....i'm sure you can join the dots.

Yep, that was quite pathetic really, he offered no explanation on why he is best mates with an absolute scum bag.

Overreaction i think, its just the clubrooms after the game, the players are grown men and can fend for themselves.

Wow. You're either Jake King or an idiot.

Which actually makes you an idiot either way.

Not everyone on this planet will speak like a private school boy

If we start character judging all the time there's not going to be many people left to play the game

I'm sure Dane Swann keeps interesting friends ...he's even said so

I sit with people who've killed people and counselled them ..even in bad people there is good.

I just think we are so quick to judge without knowing everything.

End of the day his career is forgotten instantly while his moderate if not pathetic cult status is for being identified with a drug pusher/undesirable. What an achievement.

He loves it too good luck to him.

I've got mates who in their own time when they aren't around me do questionable things
I'm still mates with them
I know half the people on here would prefer every AFL identity to answer every question with a smile then promote a social issue and skip off into the sunset carting rainbows

Jake King had a beer with the cheer squad after his final game to say thanks yet you people probably idolize players who wouldn't even fart in the same room as you

This.

I worry about some of the people on this thread...Either they and their mates are perfect, they're massive hypocrites or they have no mates.
