Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

That same information leads me to question if he ever will put in an effort.

Your doe eyed optimist view is one way of looking at it though, sure.

Akin to looking at a guy like steve dank and saying "gee he'd make a great doctor once he knuckled down and went and got an actual medical qualification"

If Jake was in his mid to late 20s I would be agreeing with that being a possibility but he is only 23 and has already shown himself to be a good footballer, the problem for Jake is that he had that great 2015 which has meant that he has been graded at a level above where he has been since.

I doubt I could be accursed of blindly supporting everything the EFC does off field.

Righto, no more obfuscating. What do you guys think the outcome of this trade going to be today?

I’m going with 25,30 and next year’s second for Stringer and next year’s third.

If a deal is reached then I would think two second rounders with maybe a player thrown in for Stringer or maybe picks over this year and next years drafts, however it wouldn't surprise me if another club say Carlton made an offer for Jake or that he stays at the Dogs.

You're wrong actually, Fox Sports just reported Stringer's management has a contingency plan and that there's another club ready to do a deal if Essendon don't.
fair enough
admittedly that was printed at 630 this morning and i hadn't seen that

I dont doubt Geelong and Carlton are monitoring the situation.

Menzel kicked 73 over the past two seasons and not a taker as a free agent.

Most players aren't lazy when there is a goal on offer. It is the other way that being lazy hurts a team (In Menzel's case it is more the body than the mind though).

As several Doggies fans have explained how Jake doesn't chase or only sometimes tackles.

I've been surprised that someone hasn't picked up Menzel, sure he might look cooked but James Kelly looked cooked and he played some good footy at Essendon after being written off by many.

Dan Menzel?
Bulldogs 2016 and Richmond 2017 changed the game. Richmond this year especially, letting talents like Lennon and Lloyd sit in the reserves while guys like Costanya gets senior games because he works hard when the opposition have the ball.

5 years ago Menzel (and Stringer) would have attracted a bidding war. Football is now about pressure on the opposition ball carrier as much as any other facet of the game and any footballer than doesn't do it has lost a lot of value accordingly.

It'll be complex assuming it happens. Think Gibbs deal is key. A stab

WB: P16
EFC: Stringer, Carl 18 3rd rd
Adel: Francis, Gibbs
Carl: P25, P30, P10

So do you rate Crameri higher than pick 30?

Outs: Boyd, Murphy, Hamilton, Stringer, Honeychurch, crameri (6)
Ins: trengove, crozier (2)

Picks: 9, 25, 28, 30
I'd rather take a 2018 2nd rounder and keep Crameri TBH. Still think if he gets his head right and has a pre-season he can help in 2018 and potentially 2019.
I'd even rookie him if no other suitor emerges.
He has 4 x club goalkicking awards and the forward half is an area we could use help. It's easy to forget that prior to the 2016 finals series we were pretty poor in the forward half that year too, let alone 2017.

Any reports on how Jakey has been going on the craps table?

Can he afford to fly home or do we need to send Little's private jet?
I heard he really misunderstood what the craps table was and has now been banned from every casino in Vegas

A few rumours on our board that we will be helping get the deal done for Essendon.

My guess is we will get pick 16 from Adelaide as part of the Gibbs deal and on-trade that for 25 & 30.
Essendon then use 16 to get Stringer and Dogs have their 'first rounder' they wanted.

We then trade 30 to GWS for Kennedy (Cameron has already said they'll accept pick 30 or under).

Yep, that scenario is indeed well documented. Would be good if the Blues at the missing pin in the middle to getting this done. And likewise if it helps you blokes along to Kennedy.

Yeah you'll get Lang and Kennedy with two second rounders.
Well probably ask for a 2018 5th rounder as well as this deal just has to stretch out until 1.58

The sun is shining, today is warm and cheery, I'm feeling optimistic. Let's go your deal, with nex years third changed to next year's fourth.

If it eventuates, it's fortunate that we have players to ontrade 25 and 30 for. I don't think we'd do it otherwise.

We might be able to turn pick 16 into Kennedy, Lang & Horlin-Smith which i think is a pretty good return.

Looking forward to a Paul Connors press conference at midday frothing from the mouth attacking the Dogs like a wounded bull.

edit: this is after we have traded pick 25 for Kennedy too :D
