We need to pick for needs not a blokes surname. We all want Aish.. But we need pace..

I'd say classy disposal and tracking to be an A grade mid is a pressing need... as much as pace is.

How on earth do you get drafted as an inside mid if you are unwilling to win a hard ball.... ;)

Think you're mixing him up with someone else.

Well at the ballarat swans and north rebels from age 15-18 basically every touch was an outlet handball from a guy called nick rippon. Probably won't make the AFL due to his size (a bit small) and a tiny bit slow (been told by recruiters) but did make the VFL team of the year this year for North Ballarat.

One of the slowest overweight players who ever played for us, was arguably in the top 10 of our greatest.

Lets not forget he would sell the dummy (candy) and still have plenty of time. DJ for ever.

I'd say Crouch is a pretty safe bet to make it after last season. Disposal is something that does clean up a fair bit in an AFL system and in his 8 games last season, it wasn't a glaringly obvious deficiency, it's not going to be ridiculously damaging but for the role he plays, it's about on par. Hell he's averaging 2 clearances already per game and that's with being sub and being undersized... so yeah, safe bet now.

I'm struggling to follow the end of that post, Rippon won't make AFL due to size/speed or Crouch, just because of that VFL team of the year comment.

Yeah Crouch will make it for sure. Definitely the 20's pick at the time was fair but is looking slightly overs at the moment, could easily come out top 15 from that draft. The thing with him is, even if he doesn't have great ball use (as you said it will only get better) he racks up a shit tonne of it as he just knows how to read the play so well and is always in the right position to (sometimes) win the ball or the perfect spot for a teammate, e.g. danger, sloane, ST to get a handball out to him.

In saying that his brother could easily become elite and should and i would think will be a better player.

No i the size speed was about Rippon who got told even after making VFL team of the year this year that he won't make the AFL, he was the one in juniors always winning the ball and getting it out to Crouch.

Wasnt Crouch injured during the preseason and also broke his leg in Showdown 1. I think he has great scope for improvement.

That was Brad, i believe we are on about Matt here.

Reckon he'll end up more a Thompson clone then anything else, not that there is anything bad about that seeing Thompson was an absolute gun for a long period of time.

His Brother should be better, Brad is an out and out gun and will end up as one of the elite players in the comp, especially considering he was impacted by a broken leg and an interrupted preseason in 2014.

Yeah, thought it was about Rippon, a real shame but he'll forge a pretty good VFL/WAFL/SANFL career at worse, a bit of a bitch when it's just genetics that get in the way.

This is why.
His old man.

Is this arguably the greatest run with the ball ever at Footy park???

Yes one of the best. I was there to. I was 17. Face painted, red and blue.
Came back to watch James play in 2012 GF against Westies.
James Aish got a nice goal with a run up the wing and kick from left forward flank.
