MRP / Trib. James Sicily - 3 weeks for dangerous tackle - SUSPENSION STANDS!

I know it's ott but couldn't help myself...
Future: 'Grand Final, 3rd Quarter, Hawthorn up by a goal. Collingwood player gains possession and runs down the wing; Hawk in pursuit gets alongside, and taps him on the shoulder politely asking if he will surrender the ball. He Does! Free kick Hawthorn!! No one saw THAT coming!!'

I'm not a 'booer' but willing to make an exception to show the AFL our utter disgust at these ridiculous decisions. Most clubs have had similar stupid chook lotto suspensions so I doubt we would be alone in taking a stand. Maybe boo the toss or initial bounce each quarter and let the AFL hear our disgust. If it happened at every game you'd think the message might sink in.

Tacklers are just going to have to let go as soon the the tackle heads towards the ground. The AFL will need to take away prior opportunity IMO to counter the change. We know from past experience that players will exploit any alteration in interpretation.

I've long been a critic of the way umpires take so long to pay a free kick after a tackle. Maybe from now on they need to pay the free the moment the tackle is applied in order to prevent any secondary motion.

Can you imagine John Kennedy snr rev up at the quarter break today.

Don’t think
Don’t tackle
Do nothing!

Most annoying thing. They're claiming the pinned arm was part of the issue, yet a Brisbane player tackled a Swan, had an arm pinned (actually pinned one, then changed to the other)
It was dangerous tackle on field, but the afl said nothing to see. It was worse than sicilys (neither deserve a suspension)

we can only laugh at moments like this but it might soon be

dont bump
dont tackle
dont tease
dont stare

go get em boys

No doubt. But is it right ??
The system was stacked against Sicily.
The AFL always wins. Appeals do not succeed

I really wish we would take a stand - like not performing a single tackle in our next 3 matches. I don't care if we lose because of it, but it would be a big f* you to those idiots at AFL house who are ruining the game.
I actually see merit in this.

We make an announcement before the game next week that due to the suspensions we have faced this season the Hawthorn coaching have issued a directive to their players not to tackle at all.

...I still think we'd win the game

Whilst I would love to see this happen, just imagine the stiffies the toads at AFL House would crack at the prospect of being able to fine us heavily for doing that.

New rules for AFL out this week. This is the only tackle permitted.

Pretty sure this is the beginning of the end for me and AFL.

Appeals will never succeed if you don't appeal the decision. These idiot lawyers appealed an error in law. As soon as that failed, the decision had to stand. Club should not hire inept lawyers. Tonight's approach was (lawyers') arrogance and Sicily was doomed from the start. The collective angst in here is against the AFL for reaching the decision that it was a dangerous tackle. Why didn't we challenge that?

I've seen a few posters say words to this effect, and I'm wondering wbhy.

Appeals are based on errors in law. They are unable to adduce new evidence in an appeal.

From what I understood, they argued that there were errors in not taking on board expert testimony, not taking on board some of Sicily's testimony.

What else would you have expected them to do? Genuine question.

Jordan Lewis put it well on AFL 360 last night, he said, he thought James' tackle didn't fit into one of the categories that grade classifiable offences.

One thing to come out of this. Unbelievably Andrew Dillon demonstrated he could be a downgrade on the miserably mediocre Gil.
....I'll leave it at that.
