He (Ryan) hasn't underperformed like Gunston, but I guess he's not had the chance to suck.

Also hasn't emulated Daniher's 5x goals or Hipwood's dizzying heights of 4x goals from 4x games so too early to call on that front.
I’m not saying he won’t be anything, however, so far, he isnt

So no Stanley or Danger ? If people actually believe Bruhn is no good, we should smash them at clearances ?
No excuses here. We have had a wretched start to the season, especially in the middle, but theirs is a weak and weakened midfield. Their forward line is dangerous and Stewart is a machine down back but we have no excuse for getting belted in the middle again. We should at least give our forwards the chance to kick a winning score. If Hawkins and Cameron kick them to victory because they are better than our forwards and we lack key defenders, so be it. But I don’t want to see us creamed in the middle by a very average midfield group and I hope to see a much better performance from the coaches box

I posted ~3 months back (partial pre-season bravado) that we should dominate opponents with Lewis + Chol + Rambo; with Chol + Rambo chopping out the #1 Ruck a few minutes each per Quarter so we constantly have a fresh Ruckman & 2+ 200cm+ Forwards.

Glad Sammy finally read that post & has actioned accordingly.

*made a few posts about Phillips recently, as well. Let's see how long it takes for those to be followed up on.
Stop stealing my thunder

Something to keep in mind. Out of the 24 for selection for the Easter Monday clash, these have played less than 50 games.

Meek
D’Ambrosio
Ramsden
Hustwaite
Ginnivan
Watson
Ward
MacDonald
McKenzie
Weddle

Close to 42% of the squad for this game has less than 50 games. Bring the effort and attitude tomorrow and it'll be excellent for their confidence and development.

Very excited to see what happens once some of these guys get to 50 games…

That's very strange, when most squad announcements are 2 days before the game. At least Saturday and Sunday games.

An extra day before the game, but one less day team notice? I don't get it...

Well I’m in Melbourne, checked into the hotel and ready for a win tomorrow. I’m going to remain optimistic! About to head out and see a couple of the comedy festival shows.

Just a couple of questions, are trams free to the MCG, or do I need to get a card to travel? Also where is the best place to catch a tram to the game from the city. Staying in Little Burke Street

Depends how willing to walk you are. I usually tram to edge of cbd (spring street) then walk from there, I think one of the Collins street trams goes past mcg (not sure if it is free though)

As Crankyhorse says, if you don't want to buy a card, it's about a 15 minute walk from the cnr of Flinders/Spring to the MCG...just on 1km, I'd reckon.

It’s not that far to walk

Based on what I read on here during preseason I am absolutely shocked to see Reeves being omitted so early into the season. Shocked I tells ya! Impossible! Surely not?

Anyway, presumably Morrison is our sub, and Mullin or Bowes will be theirs. Meaning the midfield battle will be:

Meek, Newcombe, Nash, Worpel, Ward, Mackenzie, Hustwaite, MacDonald
vs
Conway, Blicavs, Parfitt, Bruhn, Atkins, O'Connor, Clark, Holmes

That looks like it stacks up in our favour. Hopefully they control the middle so we can help out Frost, Sicily and Scrimshaw as much as possible. Frost has been good so far this season, we can't hang him out to dry tomorrow.

Eager to see how the changes alter any dynamics and how we look tomorrow. With the rain forecast for later in the arvo, we could see a dry first half followed by an extremely wet second half which would make for fun viewing (said from the comfort of undercover seats lol).

Let's hope we put on a better show than last week, regardless of the end result.

Go Hawks!
