And all he did was jump up?????? Either he has broken it before the incident or he has brittle bones

Horrific.

Doubly disappointing for Strauss, as he was starting to play some reasonable footy after a slow start to his career. Was just starting to cement a spot in defence.

He's young and he'll be back. :thumbsu:

I thought he had already broken his leg in a couple of places?
or was that a different young melbourne player who broke his leg on the school oval in year 12 a couple of years back?

Not for 2 years he won't.

Yeah unfortunately it seems that way, won't be until 2013 until he can get a decent run.

AG pointed it out on the first page that i noticed straight away is that the others like Barlow and Brown were from impact, this one was like his leg just buckled under him.

Hope he recovers and can come back well from the injury.

but yeh it'll take a couple of years before it's full recovered. The worst part about broken legs is once they come out of the plaster because they feel soo weak and vulnerable. All your strength is lost and it's like you need to re-teach yourself how to sprint again. It also has side affects because you don't exercise for a while and if you don't ease back into training you end up with other problems, such as achilles tendon. Also his ankle will always be more succeptible to sprains now.

No doubt he can return - eventually, but will he ever be the same? Sadly, Nathan Brown never quite captured the form he had prior to his horrific injury.
It's hard to say. Strauss was building form and starting to get close to best 22 type form. Brown on the other hand went down when he was in AA, top 3 dangerous forwards in the competition type form. Regardless of the type of injury with all the time off he missed and a few set backs he was always up against getting back to that form. Especially because by the time he did the Tigers form had dropped off. Strauss has the benefit of time on his side, and if he doesn't recover well for next year they can simply say don't worry about the year and we'll wait for 2013.

Barlow will be a good guide. He's come back ok this year so if he can burst back to great form next year then things will look more positive for Strauss. Unfortunately having the Blease injury should mean the club has more experience in what to expect.
