Toast Jamie freaking Elliott!

Well if Pendlebury and Swan don't get their 30 for the week it's considered a fail. Why should small forwards not kick the goals?
They should but he was outstanding. He'd be the best forward in any team in years if he kicked 5 a week.

We shouldn't underestimate how much Elliott has improved since his debut in 2012, in particular his ability to hit the scoreboard and his accuracy. In his first year I recall he was shaky when going for goal, but just check out the improvement:

2012 - 6 goals 11 behinds, 0.4 goals per game, 26.1% accuracy
2013 - 30 goals 16 behinds, 1.5 goals per game, 60% accuracy
2014 - 9 goals 3 behinds, 3.0 goals per game, 69% accuracy

Goals per game and accuracy have just improved out of sight.

I know versatility is almost a must in the modern game and we tried him in the midfield in the preseason, but Elliott to me is such a natural forward pocket and I hope we keep him there full-time :thumbsu:

He is by far our most dangerous forward at the moment and it's great to have such a talent and excitement machine in the black and white. He still needs to significantly improve his defensive pressure though.

Absolute ripper. I get scared sometimes though because I've never seen the kid smile!

That leap too!

Have also noticed that he is playing more in front this season, which has helped him when the kick falls short or gets hacked forward, and it helps his crumbing too.
Cannot recall too many of those hanging behind the pack trying to take screamers which he was prone to do previously. Look great when they come up but problem is they hardly ever do.

His running goal against the Swans last week was damn exciting too.

I went last night and took a friend who rarely goes to the footy and doesn't know the new players that well (does anybody?).
Anyway, just before the bounce I pointed to Elliott and said, "He's probably my favourite player at the moment. He's brilliant."
And was he ever!!!!
As others have said, he did nearly win the game for us.

Yep, he's a pretty serious kid, doesn't smile much. But serious is good if he keeps playing, and improving, like he is.

Apples and oranges. By the nature of their role, small forwards aren't gonna be able to kick 5 every week (even Daicos couldn't manage it)

Anybody catch 'The Club' last night?
Had no idea Billy had such a rough childhood. Great insight into his life before Collingwood.
The kid is an out and out star!

Jamie's back story has been made public before, but that was the first time I've seen him interviewed at length about it, plus the pieces from his mum and sister. He had to mature quickly as a youngster, with the tragedies in his family. I also admire that he is still connected to his old footy club in Euroa. These qualities will help him withstand the rigours of life as an AFL footballer.

For those who missed The Club last night, try catching the Jamie segments on the CFC website. A real insight into this fine young man and footballer.

Yep 'the kid' is a little ripper and comes from 'Kelly country' where my family have a little farm. Once you know his story you understand why he's such a no nonsense type of kid.

As others have said he is now more tempered in his attitude to taking 'the speccy' and does the smart thing most of the time. Glad to see him succeed at this level and hope he has a 200+ career.

That would have a lot to do with not being as fatigued with a few pre-seasons under his belt now, in his 1st year he looked like he was Jelly leg city nearly every shot.
