Not to mention taking a swing at flags and Welcome to Country ceremonies.

Good…. He is entitled to have an opinion on both. One many share on both issues…
If the best those that don’t agree with him it is to scream racist then it says more about them than him.

Oh goody, our yearly, flog the black fella time.

Seriously guys, enough.

Stay strong sis. Be proud. NAIDOC theme this year will be '"The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,"
Most of the current generation get it (spoiled by some racist clowns unfortunately) and the next generation will have our back sis. Times are changing.

I'm all for freedom of expression too, it's a shame Dutton isn't. Forcing councils to hold citizenship ceremonies on the 26th against their will doesn't seem very democratic.

This is a stalling tactic, used effectively in the republic referendum and repeated ad nauseum ever since. That's a separate decision that can made after it's determined whether most people are in favour of a new date or simply if a decision is simply made.
I'm 100% fine with a change but it has to be at a similar time of the year. If the alternative is in winter I'd change to a no.

And how do you propose agreement will be reached on a new date when there is nothing obvious?

It's at least 50,000 years. This means Aboriginal history is one of the oldest continuous histories on the planet. How cool is that right?

As an Australian (note, not British) I'm bloody proud to say I come from a place with this absolutely epic human history right at my doorstep.

Meanwhile, the British rocked up less than 250 years ago. Why would I care about celebrating relatively recent British history at the expense of this insanely cool Australian history that's actually from where I live?
Must of been epic and cool for you last NAIDOC week.

I'm sure you went to some epic events.
Managed to catch Razzy Mak,good enough but not my style.
On the other hand,Karloo Rockers made it piss.
2025 should be fun.

Here is the narrative.

People who support changing the date are completely disingenuous, just virtue signaling and don't actually care about Aboriginal people. They're inner-city latte sipping soi-bois.
On the other hand.
People who oppose changing the date are completely genuine in their 'reasoning'. But also the only reason they oppose it is because of 'the left' harassing them.
There is definitely no racism, because they're totally genuine about their love for the 26th.

Why is that the narrative?

So it's good and fair to call out 'the left' because they don't care.
But it's bad and shameful to address possible racism, because it's unfair and there is no racism in Australia. (Also Australia is so much less racist than most other countries, so Aboriginal people should just stfu and be grateful). (Also my wife is Asian so how can I be racist or sexist??).

Why is that.

Why is it that 'no one ever watches/reads Bolt, SkyNews etc etc'. But the narrative they set comes from there?

The 250,000 talking point we've seen recently in this thread.

1736880911898.png

They set the narrative, the rest of the media reports on it, and it's absorbed and repeated on here by people who will defend Murdoch, Bolt, SkyNews etc etc.

Be it by osmosis or mainline injection. The outcome is the same.

We're all Australian. It isn't a second class of people that 'we' can worry about helping 'AFTER' we've 'fixed things' for the first class of people.
If you opposed or voted against The Voice due to 'inflation' or 'cost of living', you're lying.
It's like turning the music down when driving, to help you see better.

1736881532274.png

We had to oppose The Voice, or argue about the timing etc etc, because of the cost of living crisis!
Well, The Voice was blocked... Didn't fix inflation, so why did we block it again? What single benefit was there, from blocking The Voice to Parliament???
Must be Albo's fault. - Narrative.

We can't change the date, because people are living paycheck to paycheck!
Oh... so keeping the date will help them with that will it?
Changing the date will impact them negatively, will it?

Or, it's the narrative that's been set.
The narrative that if any time is spent on closing the gap, even with something as easy as changing the date, it's HARMFUL to 'real' Australians.

We can't do anything about changing the date, or The Voice, let alone education, healthcare, voting etc etc... because of how many 'real' Australians are struggling with the cost of living. Right?
So once we look after the 'real' Australians, then we can maybe look at the overwhelmingly disproportionate negative outcomes Aboriginal people face.
Of course not, for the same reasons it didn't happen before the current load of excuses.

Any struggles or hardship in your life?
Well it's because of immigrants and Aboriginal people.
But only recent immigrants, 'not us'.
Tim Tams are $6 now, because of how much is spent on Welcome to Country!
Too much is spent on undeserving Aboriginal people, who are only in these disproportionate outcomes, because of genetics. Nothing else...

The only solution is to vote Labor out! (But not for Greens, Independents or Teals...).
Dutton is the only man who can save you from the divisive Welcome to Country!

If you are trying to create a National day, I am not sure why the date wouldn't matter.

You'd think January 1 would be the most appropriate date. I would think that if federation happened on pretty much any other day, then the change would have happened already.

Can't give the woke mob a win, that's where we are now. There's a general consensus that January 26 is deeply flawed as a national day but any concession on that would be seen as weakness by people like Dutton. Essentially we're commemorating Australia on the 26th out of spite as much as anything else these days.

Jan 1 is already a public holiday.

Secondly, date of federation as a National day will be seen by some as too linked to colonisation.
