If you want to see gracelessness and boorishness, watch the news tonight. tens of thousands of ultra left wing w***ers in their natural habitat.
I went to a rally, they seemed pretty well-behaved to me. Perhaps you just don't like people having a different view to you.

3.8% of people per the last census is not a large cohort and would be minus many to which the date is not triggering… the outraged on behalf of group are irrelevant .

Everyone except first peoples are irrelevant in the conversation, as it would make zero difference to their lives if it was changed.

Neo Nazis in Adelaide were arrested trying to disrupt the Invasion Day rally with a banner labelled “Mass Deportations Now”

Where do they expect to be able to deport Australians to? Also, Neo Nazis can **** right off.

That said, I reiterate my comments yesterday about Invasion Day protests in that sovereignty is the wrong fight to fight. It will never happen. Fight for realistic goals such as recognition, inclusion and equality and leave the unrealistic goals be.

They don’t see non white Australians as Australians. They want all non whites deported back to their ethnic country of origin (except British and white South Africans) even if their families have been here several generations.

I went to a rally today. Very few wearing masks, and I assume those who did were either sick or immunocompromised.

I didn't think everything being said in the speeches at the rally was going to win people to the cause of supporting First Nations peoples' demands if they were on the fence previously. I could see why some would turn away from that. But I also recognised that the words were coming from a place of pain and trauma over cultural destruction and racism, so I chose not to fuss about the wording and listen to the broader point instead.
What were they saying?

Would be interested if you reported back here later today with your experiences and what you observed at the rally, maybe even some pics if you feel willing?

Thanks
It was brilliant. The most notable thing was the solidarity and sense of community, bringing together a hugely diverse bunch of people. It really is a uniting event. The passion of the speakers was obvious, and it was touching to hear their first hand stories. I wish western "civilisation" was as connected to community as much as first peoples are.

Didn't take many pics, as I wanted to be present in the moment.

The speeches at these rallies are really just preaching to the converted.

Which isn't going to change the minds of the people that need changing.

Thanks so much

Great to see someone actually go there and experience it, from your position were you a speaker? 😜

What would you estimate the crowd size as? I’m going to assume there are far more people out of shot on either side

It probably won't happen, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't fight for it. You're essentially telling people to kill any dream they have of justice, and that just won't happen. People have the freedom to dream, it's the beginning of every societal change, and they will continue to even if the bulk of society doesn't share that dream.

I didn't hear the word "fascist" once today. Are these real protesters you saw who were labelling others fascists today, or is this an idea you've created in your head?
From the HUN.

Monash University assistant lecturer and Free Palestine Coalition Tasniim Nahmoud Sammak echoed calls against those at the Australian Open on Sunday, labelling those in attendance as “fascists”.

“But here this year, we will unite together, we will unite the fight, and we will take on the right and we will take on the fascists who are gathering that Rod Laver Arena,” Ms Nahmoud Sammak said.

Gee, I didn't realised one person saying something meant everyone who goes to a rally says the same thing. Should I take Pauline Hanson as being representative of all white Australians then?

And how are any of those dates signficant and worthy of a national day?
Tip: You are not trying to find a date for just an alternate public holiday with no national meaning attached to it, as so many make the mistake of doing.
Lol, most people don't even know why the 26th is a significant date.

How's them lemons treating you champ?

Only lemons around my mates and families day are being thrown into drinks, along with fun, cheers and laughter.

Oh wait a beautiful day and beautiful country.

How jealous you must be sitting there in wallow and misery staring out the window at those horrible Aussies enjoying life...
It's well in to the afternoon and you're still posting miserably here. You don't have a BBQ or mats would be my summation.

No, sorry, this is not the answer.

The whole point of protests is to raise awareness to topics to generate discussion and change. If the topic is reasonable and achievable, reasonable people will generally support the cause. If the topic is NOT reasonable or achievable, it isn't going to be taken seriously.

So no, people shouldn't fight for something that isn't going to happen. It is a waste of time and energy for everyone concerned. For those protesting unrealistic goals, it creates expectations that will never be met. For everyone, on both sides, it creates an unnecessary argument that will never be resolved.

It's not about killing dreams; it's about refining them so actual change has a chance of occurring. Dream big by all means but be realistic about the outcomes you're trying to achieve.
