Waite playd better then that so called star ben Rutten

So-called star?? What planet are you on??? Try looking at a game that actually matters, then see what you think, also looking at a game when Fevola does not have the midfield supply he had on Saturday.

Go back and watch the Blues v Crows game you peanut....the Crows flooded back every time the Blues went fwd....Fev had 3 defenders to contend with that day. You only shook us in the last 1/4.

Have you got Foxtel in Boganlaide yet?
You can watch a replay, once you've finished your bourban and cokes for breaky:thumbsu:

The worst selection and performance for the Big V ever.

What was Sheeds thinking?

Has there ever been a guy that's played for the Big V that looked so out of their depth like Jarrad last night.

He had one shot at goal and sprayed it.. surprise, surprise and then got murdered by anyone that was forward.

Surely we had better options - Firrito, Harley, who else was there?

Not sure where this thread has coem from.

I watched the game for the first time last night and Waite was VERY far from the worst performer on the ground for the Big V.

He started on Pavlich, and was beten on 2 leads, but most defenders never had a chance all night due to the fantastic delivery into the forwards all night. Pavlich didn't kick a goal.

He had Buddy for while and also no goals kicked on him. In the 3rd i think he moved onto Richo and again apart from one awesome pass he held Richo touchless and goalless, watching the game the commentators even comment about how cold Richo has gone and should be moved onto the wing.

Also if anybody paid attention to Waites game you would have noticed his run out of defence, both as ball carrier and support, and if you looked even closer you would have seen he made approx 5 tackles in the last 20m of denfense which stopped forwards in their tracks and apart from one, the Vics cleared the ball out.

So apaprt from his missed spray attempt on goal and the Richo goal Waite did his job and was a good servent to the Vics, which is more than i can say for players like, Croad, Brown, Selwood, Chapman, Kelly, Mitchell, Simmonds.

Dale Morris should have been in the backline.

Dale Morris will never ever ever be selected in a representative side, despite consistently doing the job on bigger and better reputed opponents. Being under-rated seems to suit him. Hope he retires with a premiership or a B & F. I reckon he totally deserves it.

And for what it's worth, i thought Waite did OK. Nothing special but certainly adequate.

Jarrad Waite. Definitely in....So a lot of people think that Dream team had no soul, no purpose. Vics versus the rest of the world.....Vics are champs. Only hear non Vics complaining. I say stuff them and next year let the Non Vics go to their local cafes and sip on a latte and we can have the biggest game on stage. 95000 at the G to watch Vic Metro take on Vic Country. A game full of Victorians - you beauty!!!! Waite, (from Benalla) would be a walk up start for the Vic Country team....along with his victorious team mates in SJohnson(Wangaratta) JFraser(Mansfield) DBradshaw(Wodonga) JBrown(Warnambool) SPendlebury(Sale) JBartel(Geelong) MScarlett(Geelong) JSelwood(Bendigo) NFoley(Colac) AGoodes(Horsham) RMurphy(Warragul) hang on maybe it was Vic Country playing against the dream team....:D:D

So here is my Vic Country team for next year:

B: Adam Selwood, Mathew Scarlett, Jarrad Waite
HB: Nathan Lovett-Murray, Leigh Brown, Darren Milburn
C: Brad Sewell, Jimmy Bartel, Joel Selwood
HF: Adam Goodes, Scott Lucas, Nick Dal Santo
F: Robert Murphy, Jonathon Brown, Steve Johnson
R: Josh Fraser, Luke Hodge, Gary Ablett
Inter: Nathan Foley, Brett Delidio, Daniel Bradshaw, Drew Petrie, Jed Adcock, James MacDonald, Andrew Walker.
Emerg: Nigel Lappin, Barry Hall, Nathan Brown(R), Nathan Brown(C).

What a team! :D:D

Spot on great summary!

Waitey is a great player and one of the most versatile

So Rutten had a bad game because of the delivery Fev got, well I belive the Dream Team had equally good service to their forwards. Mooney had a bad game because he played on a good player, well Pav, Richo and Buddy aren't any good then? Very selective thinking by people on here. Now Chapman, Kelly, Mooney, Simmonds, Rutten etc, are all duds because they had oridinary games over the weekend. I don't think so!

Yes Waite was probably beaten by his opponents, but when was the last time anyone kept Richo, Pav or Buddy in check. I certainly can't remember. And in reality, Waite was against players that are a level or two above him. It also has to be said, Scarlett had the easiest opponent on the night in Mooney and he comes out smelling like roses, but why wasn't he playing any of the other three opponents who are much, much greater opponents. No dig on Mooney, but really he's not even in the same league.

I thought Waite had a reasonable game and in reality, wouldn't have got a game had there been a few injuries. He did seem a little overawed by the occasion too, but with the DT forward line he was a logical inclusion with his athleticism. He has also had a very good year playing in our defence and has out played a lot of his opponents. He's still just learning to play back and looks more at home up forward.

I also think genuine posters should take note of all the plebs in this thread and not take any of their comments seriously in future. They obviously have limited or no football knowledge at all and have too much time on their hands. I mean seriously, do you believe half the shit you post. :)

I wonder if Waite would have been picked if Riewoldt had been injured earlier.

Absolutely, as he has dne pretty well on Buddy previously and is one of the few defenders in the league who can match his athleticism. ;)

What are you talking about? you guys haven't played hawthorn this year and buddy didn't play when they belted you by 100 pts last year, therefore waite would have only played on franklin over 2 years ago and we all know how much development buddy has made since.

Completely agree. I was embarrassed for him when I saw him running around out there. Just looked out of place. Im sure he knows he doesnt belong in such esteemed company.

Why include only the one stat and ignore the others?

Are you all there?
Why should I analyse the stats that some Carlton supporter has chosen to support his argument? I'm not saying Waite is crap (though I don't think he's Vic worthy), I'm just pointing out that being '2nd in the AFL in winning the ball off the opposition' is a totally irrelevant and meaningless stat.

Haha, so I assume this isn't hard-ball gets, but 'clanger kicks' that fall in his lap. Geez, great work there Waitey! Really reading those shanked kicks well.

But aren't they the kicks that normally land in the forwards' arms because they are more inclined to be in front & leading to the ball? That is why the quick kick forward from the centre bounce contest is so dangerous for defenders.

You would think the number of spoils a defender makes and the amount of goals he concedes throughout the season (the 2 stats I bolded, and hence implying they are the important ones to take notice of), are the 2 most important and relevant stats to any defender's season
