Great to see you're a moderator these days The Other Dean, it was a great night down in St Kilda and to see Tex, Tim and then Arch was a testimont to you and your part of the reason we're standing up here strong in North Melbourne.

We've all witnessed Carro's hatred for the club, it's unquestionable, however, I think James was very strong and so should we be as members. He showed restraint when he had every right to pick her up for all of her irrational accusations.

People forget, James Brayshaw was an opening batsmen in State cricket and did well and was courageous. At the level you have to be tough to face a ball coming down that quick.

He's also smart and has selected a very capable board. The achievements he mentioned tonight, including getting the club back to the members, took an expert (and passionate north man) QC to think laterally how it could be done. We have other very capable board members and it's united in it's direction. We have a good CEO who is very committed and passionate.

We have a new facility being built, we have 30,000 members and we are moving on to a new era for the footy club. We all know that.

Caroline Wilson is a powerful person in the media, but one senses that she's actually digging a hole for herself. She has weaknesses and one of them Hutchy pointed out last night which she too protested too loudly ... that she bags North in protection of Richmond. Elimentary psychology.

It's blatantly true however, she's always underestimated the core of the North Melbourne Football Club, as did Grant Thomas tonight ... not sure Grant offered the club too much with his ability, glad he used his sales skills down South.

I can assure everyone, we'll be fine but we need to get to games for the rest of the year and next year. We've got the heart, let's be there for every game.

Excellent post, and cheers. :thumbsu:

It was a brilliant performance by JB. Especially in defending his chairmanship and promises he made when elected and he had delivered on (I liked how she replied "yes, our paper regularly highlights these") all but one (the white knights), but explained the difficulties in that, and that they were still hopeful of getting it set up soon.

But I am really disturbed by her enthusiasm last night. The only thing she admitted was being wrong about the Eugene-Laidley thing, only because it was so blatant, and she even tried to weasel out of that.

She's like a horror movie villan you can't kill.

Yep. I thought JB was SENSATIONAL last night. JB's performance illustrates just how important it is for head figures of the club to speak well, communicate well & defend themselves well in the media. Eugene is the same.

I used to respect Caro simply because she seemed to be correct more often than not with her reporting but as of the last 2-3 years, she has really lost her way. It seems now that she feels she has the right to extrapolate on information & report on opinions & inuendo & report them as fact????

I will never forget this comment from her on 3AW in 2008 "Mark my words, North Melbourne will be playing on the Gold Coast by 2010." She obviously had some info on the whole Gold Coast move & maybe a comment like "I believe it is more than likely that North Melb will be on the Gold Coast by 2010" would've been more appropriate. BUT like so many other journo's out there, she loves mixing rumours, opinion & inuendo & converting them to facts & reporting them as such, just to glorify herself & in doing so, whip up the lower echelon into a frenzy.

She actually replied "I have led the way highlighting your achievements". What an unmitigated crock of sh*t.

JB gave her the arse waxing that she so richly deserved. It was good to see that Garry and Hutchy also took the opportunity to give her a couple of whacks. She's gotten away with stating her biased opinions as if the are fact for far too long.

Also, how was her cheap shot in suggesting Mazda may not be back next year? The current deal expires at the end of this year, so immediately questions whether they'd renew to further undermine us. JB handled it beautifully though.

Yeah, the Serpent has played that card in print a few times, particularly when she was flogging Chickengate, talking up the possibility Mazda might not renew (especially if they read a negative story about North in the paper every day.............)

She'll be devastated when Mazda re-signs. And won't admit she got it wrong.

What the hell was Thomas on about? We are 'missing' something?

Well Grant we arent missing a fat, loud mouthed prick who knifes people in the back which means no job for you

They spoke about his less than illustrious playing career for us, but wasn't he a chairman of selectors when Pago was there? IIRC, Denis became nervous about his motivations and Thomas "left".

JB was the first guest who has unsettled her so much she had to interrupt him at every opportunity. He couldn't finish a sentence early on but to his credit he waited for her to shut her foul mouth and then he finished his point.

What a bitch!

Not even "sex face" could save the cow from being shown up. Awesome performance from JB, made her look like a nasty vindictive bitch with all the huge steps the club has taken lately. Hope it pays off that he didnt land a knockout blow when he had it on the ropes.
Cowro, Thomas, Hutchy, take away lyon add Walls, and bomb the joint. Grant Thomas new enemy number 1

I didn't like how Cowro tried to belittle Damien Barrett, with her "Well, what do you expect? He's a North supporter I think" line.

No, Barrett is a professional. You are not.

IIRC, she used Barrett as an example of somebody who has obvious ties to one club emotionally but can write about other clubs accurately. That is, she was using Barrett as a positive case supporting her own role.

I don't like Caro comparing herself to Barrett either but I think it is a bit erroneous to suggest she was trying to 'belittle' him.
