that goal late in the game put Hawthorn in the positive side of the ledger for the first time in our history with regards to total points for and against over our 1853 games.

In 2002 I said that Hodge would be a captain one day...
In 2003 I said that Mitchell would win a Brownlow... Hasnt happened but I've come close to that...still hold hope!
In 2005 I said that Hawks would win a flag in 3 years (2008)... It happened!

Last night I said that Jed Anderson will be a future captain of our club...I have confidence in my judgement :thumbsu: !

I'm old enough to be Jed's mother, but would love to possess even half of his resilience. His personal history is well-documented regarding friends' suicides and the death of his father, but then even looking at what he's dealt with - and how he's dealt with it - since moving down to Melbourne just blows me away: Darwin is another world to Melb and at 18 he left behind family, friends and a pregnant partner. He trained his arse off during pre-season, made the team at the beginning of the season and then suffered a hamstring injury, which put him out for weeks. His son is born at this point and while he goes home to visit, it's a few months before his partner and baby make the move to Melb. Jed suffers a further hammy and would be forgiven for thinking 'next year'. But again he forces his way back into a really strong team and contributes and excites on the big stage.
I love his attitude and the way he plays- if he misses out on the PF and/or GF he won't crack it, he'll just come back even harder next year. Personally I really want him out there, because he wants to be there and will always give his all.

Just watched the game. Oh gods, that mark. I think we've got a ripper here. Built for finals footy - very happy to take back my apprehension in the preview thread about playing a kid.

I really love Anderson and get excited every time he's involved in the play. I would love to see him start on the ground in the PF.

Perhaps he's even the best youngster we've had at any position since Cyril.

I've said it before but I havn't been as excited about a young Hawthorn player since Cyril. Jed just has that little something about him.

I have been a bit reserved about the Jed hype. I'm now officially on board.

From his first years effort, the glimpses that we have seen I'm now convinced. This bloke has something special. I mean last week that tackle was immense. That pack mark last night was incredible for an 18 year old. He was spotting up targets round 23 like he'd played 150 games. There were no Duryea like newbie nerves or mis-kicks. It took Whitecross almost 30 games to adjust to Afl , took Jed about 30 seconds. This was evident when he ran through Selwood in his first game, then ran through Pendles in his next.

Appears to have no problem with the big stage. I am guessing he will thrive on it.

Get excited. And my god is he going to hurt someone when he puts on 10kg.

Can a kid get nominated for the NAB RS two years in a row?

He will still be eligible and would a be a good shout if he could get a regular game for the riegning premiers.

I think he can. You have to be under 21 as of Jan 1st that year and played less than 10 games. He's played 6 so far so he should still be eligible.

Is Jed going to be the unlucky one to make way for Cyril?? Like Spang will be for Bud?? You have to feel for these blokes!

This just goes to how much stronger this year than we were at the same time in 2012, when we didn't have the opportunity to rest tired players approaching finals time.

I would start Jed in the prelim. Who to leave out is a big problem, but this is a decision premiership teams have to make every year.
