Former Hawthorn coach and triple premiership player Peter Schwab has formally nominated ex-Australian Super boss Ian Silk to the Hawthorn board

Is that right. Each to their own, my friend.

I have been President of three footy clubs and heavily involved with the HFC over many decades. I assure you, based on conversation with Mr Kennett, knowing anything enough about footy was certainly not his forte. By his own admission as well.
That is not to say I am the font of all footy club knowledge. Far, far from it.
Well since you're big noting, i have been heavily involved in Junior Footy myself and a Recruiting Officer both at Richmond and Hawthorn FC.

Excellent. Wonderful involvement. I was not “big noting” just suggesting facts and hopefully reinforcing your point.

How will this challenge get rid of Kennett? Seems it will just remove head of fundraising for Dingley and prevent Simon Taylor from joining the board?

It's the first step to unseating him.

You dont think the former head of Australian super doesnt know how to raise funds?
You dont think getting rid of Jeff will open up all kinds of extra funds from Governments ?

As SYL suggests it is only a first step. It is my understanding the members, under the Constitution cannot force a SGM that would remove him before the expiry of his term. (End 2023)
On the Dingley matter. Perhaps JGK could behave in the best interests of the HFC and embrace the State Govt and receive the $20m grant. And perhaps he can resign so other important donors feel comfortable to contribute.

Still waiting for that regular and ongoing communication from the president as per his promise in 2017.

Dingley is quite literally the only thing we don’t hear about from our talking head president
I think you’ll find he sent an email a few weeks back with an update.

But then again, you are the poster who listed several questions about Jeff, that when answered but not to your liking, completely disregarded the replies & deflected……just like Jeff would do when he doesn’t like the reply

You’d make a great politician

I think Tops was responding specifically to this comment from you, regarding his evaluation of Jeff Kennett's work as President of our club.
Your words about Kennett were: " I think he would have a better idea than you would."

So Tops went on to give you an idea of where his judgements were coming from, having held the position of footy club prez on three occasions.
I don't see that as big noting at all, merely giving you context for his thoughts and why he might pass the judgement he was on Jeff's performances.

Apart from that, the notion that Kennett "would have a better idea than you" - so your opinion may not be warranted - is absolutely fatuous.

That's because it implies that the person criticizing has no right to do so, unless he can demonstrate that he is just as qualified or as knowledgeable as the subject. Does that mean, for example, that you can't criticism or hold an opinion about PM Morrison because you don't have experience as a govt minister?

Of course people are entitled to hold views, and voice their views, about Kennett and aspiring board members, irrespective of their background or qualifications. That's what voting's all about, isn't it?

The opposing view is not to cricitise Kennett, or hold a contrary view to his, because, being president, he must know more about the club than we do.

The fact is, there there are many warranted and indefensible criticisms of Kennett as set out in this forum.

Kennett is thoroughly deserving of the criticism he's received for these matters - he's earned that criticism. And don't forget that he's subsequently come out and apologized for some of his various stuff-ups or forced club officials to make retractions. So how do you rationalize Kennett having a "better idea" than those who criticize him in those instances when some of his actions or utterances are self-confessed mistakes?
