Id trade Sav if we can get a 2nd rounder for him back, i honestly dont rate the guy that much, i know he is rated around here and thats fair but he has also been bashed from pillar to post on here for being....well...sh*t!!!
Could be one that we would regret trading. Even some Tigers supporters were hoping he was not playing in the GF.

Lol Adam Cooney on AFL trade radio saying Geelong will trade picks 13,20, Sav and Narkle for Cameron and then on-trade Narkle. Good one...not :drunk:
Pretty sure on-trading players hasn’t ever been allowed.

If we trade out players like Narkle or Cockatoo. we may pick up enough R2 type picks to trade with their Dogs to get their r1 pick..

A little off topic here but the Dogs have also received a future CHF who is regarded by a few of the pros in the business as the most talented kid they have seen in a decade.
They won't be looking for any key forwards anytime soon.

So apparently 'key forwards don't grow on trees', but they're going to pick up Hogan for far less than we will have to pay for Cameron.

I wonder if they see the hypocrisy, or even care?
Could we then let GWS resign Cameron, matching our offer of course, and we get Hogan for not much?

Im not sure about that, it sounds like the FA offer was high because they didnt think it would be matched, given we dont get a lot of good draft picks and this year have a nice hand Im not confident that they will want to offload any for Cameron.
Surely Wells et al would have considered all contingencies. It would have been very naïve simply to table a big offer and "think" there's no way GWS will match, and the minute Cameron announced he was out Dave Matthews said "we will match".

I want to know now that GWS can actually match, that this isn't ridiculous rhetoric. A judicial inquiry*, or just someone independent verifying GWS aren't pulling the wool over our eyes.

*that is a joke....

They honestly dont give a crap, they are looking to bend us over the barrel as hard and fast as they can, no lube included.....little did they know they also provided a decoy in the form of their bulging salary cap which will allow us to walk away pain free and will leave them a little worse for wear aka screwing themselves!!!

We can put it to the test, but it would cost us Cameron indefinitely.

No thanks, don't rate Hogan at all, Cameron on the other hand is a gun. No way we will pass up the chance to get Cameron especially after what Cooky said earlier about how hard Geelong are going to get him. Besides high drafts picks aren't always a guaranteed win anyway and we don't know if and when the premiership window is closing for us so Cameron is a must get I think.

Not really an option, but this could set a dangerous precedent. Clubs matching offers knowing they really haven't got the ability

Wont happen, they are the AFL's pet club so anything untoward in the salary cap will be covered up and swept under the rug by Gill and Co so that they can be successful, especially since we are involved, the AFL have been hating on us for years now hoping we fall, we get a bad run at the tribunal, umpires cheat, its all connected.

Sure, but "you can't always get what you want, but you get what you need."

Not sure you can put all the work into a player, convince him to leave, then turn around last minute and say nah sorry, we will actually go after someone else. You'd damage your reputation.

Plus Hogan is too much of a risk.

Come on mate get your own material

This is why they should have just taken pick 10 as compo and struck a side deal involving a 1st rounder from us but they have gone in so pigheaded that its almost like the unreasonable 5 year old who expects to get what they ask for. They need to realize though that we dont have to play along. I still think a deal with eventually get done but its going to be a long drawn out process.

No i disagree - i dont know what they have done wrong

This is a matter of principle - they are sick to death of having all their players pinched - they had that meeting/lunch with Johnson Mathews and the CH 7 executive - and theve decided that this player - they want to hang onto him - enough is enough

Look at the Suns they are the same - Prestia Lynch Caddy Ablett Dixon Omera - they have all gone - and plenty of others

Im not into the intricate details of the drafting rules - but by the reaction of most Geel supporters i think GWS have played this well - they are going to get the optimum

They have now put tremendous pressure on Geel and Cook in particular - has he got the guts to walk away from it - or is it going to worry him that he looks a goose if he does

This Cameron trade ( given his huge salary - his terrible form this year - and the multiple draft picks now needed )- i hope this doesnt transpire - but years down the track - they might be saying the Cameron deal busted Geel

Geel and Cook have now got a big decision to make - the pressure is all on them

And it is utter bullshiit to say Cameron wont go back and play for GWS again - plenty of players in a similar situation have done just that - Buckenera took Haw to the Supreme Court ( and failed ) to get a clearance to Eagles - and then became a 4 time Haw premiership player

OK. I think its easy to exclude the non-Victorian teams as that would cause too much of a shit storm.

Those who won't: Carlton (salary cap), Collingwood (salary cap), Hawthorn (rebuilding), Melbourne (trading for Brown), North Melbourne (rebuilding), Richmond (salary cap)

Those who might: Essendon, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs

Not sure there is a lot of interest and I suspect St Kilda must be getting pretty tight salary cap wise. I also only have Essendon there are a I think they would have a tight cap and are rebuilding but they are just crazy. Dogs could do with Cameron.

Didnt say they had done anything wrong, in fact i said they were well within there rights to match its the way they have gone about it thats ****ed everything up, tried to lowball Cameron and then come out demanding they get a kings ransom, thats not how things are done, if you want the respect of your players and your peers thats not how you do it. I dont have a problem with the match, thats fine its the posturing and bullshit involved, we dont have to entertain any of it but they seem to think we do.

If they don't want players leaving, perhaps they should create a footy club people don't want to leave?

If you are talking ND, Dogs wont have any picks left once they take their academy player. And StKildas first is after ours. And they may still lose it to Adelaide.

Unless it is out of our hands with GWS matching the offer, and we can not trade or deal?
