But IMHO there's nothing wrong with saying "Look, I'd really prefer to be home, I really don't know how I'd handle it being away from my family and friends, I can't guarantee I wouldn't want to come straight back, would really have to see how I go at the time"

I'm sure clubs would rather get that response, than being lied to or stuffed around.

Yep, if people haven’t moved on now it’s a worry for their mental state.

These things just happen in footy, some players just aren’t a fit for the club that picked them.

I think one or two people start and when you're at the ground, had a few beers, caught up in the contest, you get carried away a bit and a crowd starts joining in. Now that people have started calling it out and asking people to stop, it is only going to get worse. Human nature.

It truly is a bizarre one. Why all Victorian clubs supporters feel the need to boo him I will never understand.

Having said that, the fox commentators all saying people should stop booing him because it's "uneducated" etc, will only get him boo'd more. Have they learnt nothing from the Adam Goodes situation? People should eventually decide it's a pretty lame shitty dumb thing to do to boo a 19 year old kid that has nothing to do with their own club. But people telling them they can't do it, will only prevoke them to do it more imho.

Hard to know from afar but I feel both North and Port have mismanaged him. To me his most obvious AFL comparison is Dangerfield, a guy who spent the majority of his time forward until about his fourth season. Let him build his tank and use him as an impact player in the midfield for now.

Added bonus he’ll develop some genuine forward craft and might become a double threat as an elite centre bounce mid/elite forward like Dangerfield, Martin, Bontempelli etc.

JHF is and will be an elite mid. Why would we waste him picking up crumbs for 3 years in a forward pocket

It's a fine line I think. If a club asks a player, "do you think you will move here and stay here for the long term?" And a player says "no, I will be looking to go home after my contract finishes." Isn't that just honesty rather than tampering?

It's not fair to force a young player to a basketcase of a club for 4 years. Clubs just need to get better at creating a culture that players want to be at.

That is the way the draft works. The best players go to the worst clubs. Those clubs usually have poor culture at that time.
