Guess the north nuffies are going to go missing this week...

His true character is on display. People look at stats for players just as the world look at IQ to just one's intelligence.

There is no stats for adversity quotient and unfortunately, young hornes has very low AQ value.

If you compare him with the very best of past years like Judd, Carey, Buckley etc, world of difference.

A truly great player is not defined by how he goes at the height but when the team is at the bottom.

Perhaps, just perhaps, hornes will be a great player at later stages of his life when port has fallen to the bottom as they are an aging team on the decline right now.

Just perhaps, he will reach his actual potential to be this balwark holding the team together as they rebuild and by the end of his career, he led port through a difficult time. His greatness perhaps may be defined as a prodigy entering a fading team but through difficulty standing up for the team and leading it into a new era for future champions to take over.

While I don't buy into some of the more 'crazy ex' mentality that certain North fans have, it's been very noticeable that opposition clubs have come up with a real tactic of getting under his skin and putting him off his game....and he's fallen into the trap.

Still young but will need to seriously work on getting that out of his game. Players will keep doing it to him now that they suspect he can be sucked in.

I think a lot of people commenting in the media and socials didn’t actually watch the game. Horne wasn’t tagged on the weekend. He had a defender on him like every forward does and was running forward of the ball by himself from CBAs. The niggle against him started after he had a zero position quarter and a half and gave away a high tackle free kick. Then he gives away a 50m out of sheer petulance completely changing the momentum of the game at the time.

He deserves to cop criticism for these acts and they aren’t isolated to this game. Giving away cheap shot free kicks like that do not make him a “competitive beast” like he is being lauded in the media.

I think JHF should read Andre Agassi’s book Open. Precocious junior and stuck into the lime light at an early age. The pressure of having to deal with all the attention, scrutiny and expectation. Despite some early Slams, it all went horribly off the rails. At the time he was such a target for the press and fans piling in on him (hair, marriage, behavior on court etc).

To Agassi’s credit he turned it around and became a better player, husband and public figure off the court by the end of his celebrated career.

I applaud Hinkley for tacking the petulance issue and during the match and also later in the press conference. I am sure there are lots of conversations as well away fronm the public eye.

Early in his career I thought (like many) that Jack Reiwoldt was a petulant, sooky and conceited individual. A guy you just love to see get beaten by your team. To his credit he also turned it around and became a better player and person with an amazing career in the end. Perhaps a challenge for JHF to remove the attitude, and just try to be the best player he can possibly be for his team.

This is why he gets frustrated. Look at the treatment he cops in front of the umpires and they just completely ignore him getting jumper punched in the throat by 2 opposition players.

This actually resulted in Georgiades coming in and getting suspended as well but if the umpires did their job, that also would have been avoided.

Week after week he gets scragged, jumper punched and taken high and gets no support from the umpires.

Of course he’s going to take it into his own hands at that point.

You just completely ignore the fact that Horne started it with his late, high hit from behind? 🤔

Yes his tackle slipped high but started on the shoulder. Same action happens many times each game. Also not late, tackled as he kicks the ball.

Doesn’t mean two opposition players can start jumper punching him in the throat.

Free against JHf for the initial tackle fair enough. It did slip high unintentionally. Should have been instantly reversed though when he starts getting jumper punched in the neck for no reason.

Good young player cops plenty of niggling and 'attention' from the opposition to try to put him off his game.

In other breaking news, the sun rose in the east today.

Lol at posters saying opposition teams have figured him out. He's been BOG in 2 of his last 3 games. He's just turned 21 and highly competitive/aggressive. He's not going to get the balance right 100% of the time.
BOG against the Bulldogs? He hardly touched the ball until the last half when the game was well and truly done and Butters was subbed off.

Does 3 goals and 7 score involvements till 3 quarter time counts as 'hardly touched it' these days? gee, considering he was played forward half the game, 14 touches and 3 goals, finishing 2nd on the coaches vote is not bad hey?

JHF has been involved in 30.7% of all scoring chains this season – ranked fifth in the AFL

“Until the last half” and you go ahead to include stats in the third quarter. 🤔
That game was done by half time, he had 7 touches. No chance he gets close to BOG over Butter or Rozee in that game. Although he got three votes in this game so I guess anything is possible.

It was before Butters was subbed off which you mentioned. He was then moved to the midfield. Again blind looking at the stats will get you this. And he got 4 votes in that game and Rozee and Butters were on fire.

Blindly looking at the stats, he had 9 possessions, and 7 clangers. Does that make every time he didn't goal a clanger? Or were there non-possession clangers such as frees against?
