He certainly isn't the same player he was. Has been on a steady decline for a few years now. Brilliant player between 05-11. Honestly have hardly noticed him in games since about 2012. Doesn't seem to have much hurt factor in his games the last few years as it's rarely shown. Pre 2012 he was a champ though it must be said.

He's actually been good this year, but last night he was a shadow of his past self. I even saw him pull out of a contest once or twice which was a huge contrast to Selwood who was putting his body on the line and taking marks he had no right to take. Hopefully it was just an off night. I don't want to see him cruise to retirement playing bruise free footy.

He was out for 11 weeks during the season, he's been pretty good since coming back and the Hawks had a lot of incentive last night. We were never going to beat them especially with some key late withdrawals adding fuel to an already hot fire...there should be no heat on Bartel, let's see how he pulls up next week against the Saints!
