Also, any chances he might change his number? I hope he keeps the 32 and makes it his own
 
You have to understand that if we signed him to a 5-year 800k per year deal, in 5 years that 800k will be worth quite a bit less in today's $$ ... 500 or 600k. So that would represent absolute win for us.

I jokingly talked about a 10-year, 10 million deal in the game thread. Same thing with time value of money...

Just got back from Melbourne, obviously went to the the Essendon match while over there. Favourite moment was when the ball was kicked into our goal square at the end we were sitting at, there was a pack of players, then Butcher flew from the back and I stood up yelling "OHHHHHHHHH.......BUTTCHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Got evil stares from everyone around me, wonderful moment.

OK, that's a bit much but in 5 years at an inflation rate of 4%, 800k would be worth $657,541 in today's coin. So, not too far off. But pretty far off. :eek:

Spoke to one of my friends on FB last night, she's pretty young and hot, and PAFC obsessed, goes and parties with the players etc. Went something like this.
me: "Hey you should try and hook up with Butch, we need him to jag an Adelaide girl to keep him here"
her: "funny you should mention that, he messaged me on facebook only last night"
me: "your kidding"
her: "no, dead set"
me: "take one for the team pal, bacardi and coke, do it, do it"
her: "see what happens, he's a really nice guy"

But from that point I got less out of her than roast pidgeon.

Perhaps the vitriol directed at Rhode re this topic may be slightly unjust.

Would be a couple of gold stars if he manages to re-sign Butch, Bob, Moore, Lobbe, Trengove on the back of Boak and Gray I'd say, some credit to him.

Dont worry Porthos I'm not loving the Rhode.

There is also an interview with the coach of Gippsland Power on the SEN site now too. He knows Butcher pretty well and thinks he will stay as he is a really loyal guy.

He talk's up his younger brother a fair bit too. Apparently he has elite speed and is pretty hard at it. Said he does the 20m sprint tests in 2.75sec.
