I'll tell you what though, I was struggling for excitement heading into this season, but this reinvigorates things.

If cox is appointed as coach , I’ll take it as a club decision , if cox is interim horse has left on his own accord imo

Why would he be interim?

I’d guess that the club would want to do an extensive search for a coach to take over a grand final list..if they were caught off guard .

Has the club ever stated that cox is the next coach in line ?

Yes, it's why Cox didn't take the WCE job.

Please at least keep today's comments regarding Horse positive, there's a time & place for the negative comments which isn't today. Be respectful as he's given this club more than anyone will know.
It's not a negative comment. It's a comment made purely because of the timing. I hope I am way off the mark but most would question the timing. No need to be rude and crass.

It's never actually been stated, but as SM said, the moment he knocked back WC it was obvious.

The timing could suggest it may be a health issue.
I really hope not :(

For all the complaints about getting it wrong on the biggest day - he is an outstanding person in so many ways. Not just as a footy coach, but as a man. His leadership off field on a wide range of issues, without want for praise or recognition, looms large - and there are very few young men over 2 decades that haven't improved as people as a result of working with Horse.

Its a sad day for the footy club - from an on-field perspective, it is probably overdue. Change is needed at any club, no matter how legendary a coach may be. But it will be a huge loss to the AFL - I hope it is just seen as a time for change, and not health related in any means, as Horse as a 'man' is an absolute gentleman to a tee.

Pretty shocked to hear, but I feel like it's the right call.

I have a lot of respect for Horse, despite turning on him this year. He was definitely a great people manager and was a really really good coach.

All the best John. I'm sure he'll get another gig, and will take a lot away from his experiences at the swans and perhaps finally taste the ultimate again. Albeit at another club.

All the best Horse, thanks for the service.
